JD sounds like he is understandably very excited about the Lions.
It is a little sad that the pathway for young coaches, rather than pro players who coach, has been perhaps irreparably damaged.
Melrose in Prem all the way to Lions is some coaching path.

A form is filled out detailing the facts, the perceived faults of the tackler and outlining the drills he or she will do to address them.Blackmac wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 12:07 pmPossibly a silly question but how do they implement this "infamous" tackle school. The player will then have a one-to-one review of the incident with their coach.
The pair then work on those drills and look for the player to show progression in their technique.
Video footage of the player performing the drills is then sent to World Rugby, who will decide if the player has passed. Fail and their ban will not be reduced.

I can't say I know much about him, but he seems to have been rated by the SRU and Glasgow.
All the best to him.
I’ve mentioned it previously, but where I live by the seaside we get a lot of the “islander” community coming down for BBQ’s and meet ups. I’ve watched a few of their fun touch games and it’s pretty eye opening! I think we have a few of the lads beginning to come through the schools so get your dirty hands offSaintK wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 6:11 pm Is this lad a prospect?Northampton Saints have signed English-qualified Scotland U20 winger Amena Caqusau from Glasgow Warriors ahead of next season.

Is this not the same as the Zach Mercer situation? As far as I am aware, Caqusau was not born in Scotland and he has no familial link to Scotland so despite him having grown up here since an early age he loses his qualification when he moves to England...?Tichtheid wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 8:57 pmSaintK wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 6:11 pm Is this lad a prospect?Northampton Saints have signed English-qualified Scotland U20 winger Amena Caqusau from Glasgow Warriors ahead of next season.

Someone on the weedgie board said that because he has spent ten years here he keeps his qualification. I’m not sure if that is the case.KingBlairhorn wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 8:11 amIs this not the same as the Zach Mercer situation? He’s probably of more value to Saints if he is EQ, I suspect that is where he’ll end up if he makes it to full international honours
Wikipedia thinks this is correct. Residency is 60 months immediately leading up to when you play, or 10 years of continuous residence, which doesn’t have to be immediately prior. I suppose this is to avoid a player accidentally becoming ineligible for a country they legitimately grew up in.Tichtheid wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 8:23 amSomeone on the weedgie board said that because he has spent ten years here he keeps his qualification. We have great wingers just now but I’m not sure we have a lot of great prospects. If this guy is really good then I expect the SRU will have their claws into him way before England take any notice

He looked pretty decent for the u20s. What I don't understand is that Glasgow have had some injury challenges in the back 3 in the last 2 years. I seem to recall a winger going to SA & starting who wasn't even in the squad. It would seem a prime opportunity to start this lad. I wonder if Franco is better at developing prospects in the forwards than prospects in the backs?Yr Alban wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 9:04 amWikipedia thinks this is correct. Glasgow, ( along with Edinburgh ) are being forced to reduce squad sizes, if you have a back three of McKay, Smith , Steyn , Rowe, Cancelliere - all pretty much first team starters , along with Cordero & Trotter as back up - and throw into the mix Jamie Dobie, who also needs gametime - trying to get meaningful gametime for Caqusau is almost impossible.
Saints will be able to offer a better financial settlement than Glasgow ever will for Caqusau . Jordan / Mann are perfect examples - players who Franco wanted to keep, but who were on fairly limited salaries , and when their current contract expired, Glasgow simply did not have the cash in the current climate.
As far as I am aware both Cancelliere , and Cordero will be OOC in the summer , and if rumours are to be believed both will be let go, McKay is also OOC , and again they would need to use the cash to keep McKay.
The more pressing need to Glasgow is to find a decent 10 to replace Jordan, and they don't grow on trees

Good to hear, as noted by others there's a bit of a paucity of wing talent coming through at the moment.SaintK wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 10:21 amHe'll get well looked after at Saints. Don’t think there’s an issue with Franco developing backs, beyond him typically having only two backs on the bench meaning that opportunities are necessarily really limited.
Ahh, thanks
Also, is Harrison on drugs and can I get some

Shame about the injuries but a job that needed to be done is being done.
Against the bad teams you always hope your class players shine through and look a cut above the oppositio and I think that's happening.
Jamie Ritchie is currently Scotlands best openside. Breakdown work has been class lately.

Perpignan have struck gold with him signing up !

I think Ritchie has developed a really good rugby brain over the last couple of seasons. Always a good player but could get caught up in situations he didn’t need to be in. Just making good decisions all the time nowBig D wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 8:24 pm Shame about the injuries but a job that needed to be done is being done.

Was just saying to my daughter that tonight had probably sealed his place on the Lions tour if it was ever in doubt. A performance impossible to ignore so farTichtheid wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 8:35 pm That Darcy is a bit rubbish isn't he?

As he gets smashed back in the tackle

He should be getting more than 15min in this type of game. Especially when Watson was pretty quiet.
Possibly a bit over critical, but.I’m not sure how players like Cammy Scott and, to an extent, Thompson, get to be pro 10’s without being able to do the real basics of the position like fixing the defence and stopping the attacking line drifting

Saw Duhan went off with an injury. Did it look like a bad yin?
