Tesla (TSLA) announces 336,681 deliveries, far worse than expected

Tesla (TSLA) has released its Q1 2025 production and delivery numbers. The automaker confirmed it delivered 336,681 electric vehicles during the first three months of the year — far below expectations.

In Q1 2024, Tesla delivered 386,810 electric vehicles.

Due to demand issues and production challenges related to the Model Y changeover, Tesla was expected to see fewer deliveries in Q1 2025.

According to Tesla-compiled analyst consensus, the automaker was expected to report “377,592 deliveries” in the first quarter. The Bloomberg consensus from Wall Street analysts is higher at 390,000 deliveries.

Today, Tesla reported that it delivered 336,681 EVs in Q1 2025.

And that total is only that high because of obvious fraud like the 8,000 cars "sold" at one Canadian dealer, & who knows how many of the cars stacked in car parks near dealerships in the US are also imaginary sales, only to boost numbers & get Government money.

And yet.... the morons who invest in Tesla have decided that this makes the stock a buy :???:

One analyst has set a stock price target of half of the current valuation, & another fan boy analyst has said it'll be worth 50% more in 2026 !

So Elon both is and isn't leaving the Whitehouse. Doge now some sort of Schrodinger department presumably, and it would fit, they both have slated costs, if you ask them, and haven't if you ask reality

Frank Skinner has been observing when the Canadian/South African racist has a sufficiently big enough car crash in public it'll be known as Elon-gate

Tesla brand is as dead as a dodo now, it has had its Ratners moment so it is just a matter of time for a slow lingering death.

Slow & lingering is infinitely preferable to what I think will happen; a lemming rush off a cliff that ends in Chapter11 for a company bigger than Lehman Brothers in 2008. The impact on pensions for millions of people will be devastating.

After Tesla's rough start to the year, Elon Musk is probably lucky that Americans cannot buy BYD cars.

Tesla's Chinese nemesis had another spectacular quarter, with sales jumping 60% in the first three months of 2025.

BYD has sold about 416,000 EVs and 570,000 hybrids this year. Tesla vehicle deliveries, meanwhile, came in well below analyst expectations, with the automaker announcing first-quarter deliveries of 336,700 EVs on Wednesday.

It's the second successive quarter that BYD has outsold its rival, with Tesla battling plunging sales as protests against CEO Elon Musk and DOGE spread worldwide.

Most concerningly for Elon Musk, a growing proportion of BYD's sales are coming from outside China.

The Warren Buffett-backed automaker reported record overseas sales in March for the third time this year as it expands aggressively in international markets.
BYD has a schmick new Garage down the road from me.

Going to do a test drive soon

I’ve done almost 60000km in my Atto3 in 2 1/2 years. It’s been a magic ride so far but I’d quite like to try the Seal, apparently they’re really good. The high spec AWD option would be ace.

I’m a convert. The driving experience is excellent and the quiet surge is out of this world.

I wanted to buy an SUV Sized car when we moved to Newy - the problem was, our idiot previous PM bringing the Coal into Parliament put the kybosh on a lot of EVs coming to Oz in time

We ended up getting an ICE one but I want a "side car" for me. My RS265 is still fun but getting unreliable for trips to Sydney and back.

Ideally, I'd garage it and get a smaller runabout EV with Bidirectional Charging so I can use it as a battery for my Solar as well

The market is still all about large cars at present

EV market? Well, there are a good number of small EVs coming through now, ranging from the rough and ready Dacia Spring to journalists' darling Renault 5 and beyond. I think bidirectional is likely to be a next gen thing for most EVs.

This also assumes you can get said runabouts in Australia.

Took delivery of a Leapmotor C10 last week, first one registered in UK. It's fantastic. GF has free charging at work so pretty compelling. It senses my phone approaching, flashes it's lights alluringly and moves everything around to my spec. Anything whilst on the move is voice activated. A lovely shade of Chinese Racing Green too.....

If like me you were curious as to why Space Karen suddenly decided to question the "Dear Leader" on his tariff, eh, strategy; allow me to enlighten you.

In amongst the steaming pile of pigshit that are Tesla's financials, there is a single diamond ... the Energy Storage division !!

This one division has seen a doubling of revenue year-on-year, when everything else was flat at best.

Now where do you think all those storage walls etc get their batteries from ? .... if you guessed the US, you'd be wrong; if you guessed the Country that'll have a total tariff of 104% on imports by the end of the week; you'd have guessed correctly !

Hence the renewed efforts to rig the electoral system, but they might not have enough time, & even if they did, they just aren't that bright, & the damage from this is going to be far, far worse than what they jerrymander to their benefit.

Tesla facing both a demand side slump and a supply chain massive cost increase both as a direct result of his supporting Trump to the White House. And every country in the world is using blocking access to Starlink as a negotiating tool.

Now he's no longer in the Presidents ear his corporates will start to be less fascinated by him. Lucky he got the x transaction done when he did.

Oh well, F*ck around find out. Maybe you can start paying those giant checks to members of Congress to overturn the tariffs Elon!

It'll be instructive to see who the Tango traitor sides with in the cat fight between Navarro & Space Karen ?

On the one hand SK's massive wealth makes him the Alpha as far as TT is concerned, but Navarro is just about the only other person on the planet who agrees with his Tariff "strategy"; so if he fires him he's admitting that he has been wrong his entire life, & I don't think his fragile ego will ever let him do that

I can see how a broadly normal, fundamentally decent person starts a business and ends up with say £10m in the bank. Much more than that and you’ve had to really screw someone and likely multiple someones

They might be intellectual midgets, but their power means they are serious people as far as the rest of us are concerned !

Their actions will have serious consequences, & the rest of us will have to live with the American voters being morons, & trusting these idiots with God like powers.

Even after today's change, & some stock market bounce, we're still down considerably, & all it proves to everyone is there's a fucking nutcase in the Oval Office, & he could do anything, at anytime.

We're now going to get a Global Recession all because this fucking loon decided that while tariffs failed before, he could make them work !; now there are millions of CEOs who are going to stop their previous investment plans, because they now have to factor into them the possibility that this moron might put the Country they planned on investing in, on his tariff hit list; or they might pause their plan to build a factory in the US, because they know that that factory was dependent on a factory in Mexico, or China, or Canada, & if the tariffs happen, then the whole project becomes nonviable.

Uncertainty kills investment, just look at Brexit !!!

And if Business investment stops, then growth stops, & you end up with a toxic mix of recession, stagflation & unemployment
