2024/2025 Not Heineken Cup

If it's a penalty they have to take the offending player out of the equation and decide the probably outcome if he wasn't there.
For me that's a penalty try all day long
That certainly was the directive once upon a time, I'm not sure if it still is though?Tichtheid wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 5:01 pmsockwithaticket wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 4:57 pm That has to be pen try surely because it's an illegal action that puts Saints' 6 into touch?

But yeah, daft that it wasn't a penalty try! It's also daft that Pollock didn't get a YC though

They always seem to ignore the offence if a try is scored - it's a bugbear of mine.
I really think there is a directive to keep the cards down, especially red ones. There was a bleeding obvious red card in Edinburgh's game today, which was only adjudged yellow, and when the same player committed another headshot it was "just a penalty for me"

Castres 13 incredibly lucky for a second time.
That ought to be a cast iron yellow at least.

He wears Freddy Douglas pyjamas

Not a surprise to see Pollock in the midst of everything, though he certainly didn't start it. What was Castres 11 thinking?

Fair enough, didn't think Piardi had the bottle to follow through on the earlier warning.
14 v 13 will definitely suit Saints.

Piardi?
He's usually okay but he's lost it tonight. There must be a memo to not card players unless there is absolutely no way of avoiding it, including making up stuff

Great work from Mitchell. Nice to see Tom West back and bruising. Wasps' collapse really seemed to delay his progress, looked like he was going to be in the England mix for a bit.
Even the Welsh can't think of three back rows that should go on the Lions tour.Tichtheid wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:16 pm The guy is going to be a star, undoubtedly, but I can think of three Welsh back rows I'd pick in front of him right now.
Pollock should go to Argentina with England.
Morgan, Reffell and Wainwright would be my choices ahead of Pollock right now, there is an argument for Faletau too.Oxbow wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:18 pmEven the Welsh can't think of three back rows that should go on the Lions tour.Tichtheid wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:16 pm The guy is going to be a star, undoubtedly, but I can think of three Welsh back rows I'd pick in front of him right now.

Pollock will get there, undoubtedly, but next time, not this time.
edit, I'm not saying those three or four should go, just that they are better options than Pollock right now.
One of my best memories of watching a game in a pub was the HC final between Saints and Leinster - the game of two halfs one. I was in an Irish pub in Brighton and it was jumping. The support was around 50 50, terrific atmosphere and the (very good - Darkstar) beer was flowing freely.

Seems not. I had Connacht to edge this one. Hansen at fault for 2 tries.
Farrell's invisibility cloak on cheap high shots remains intact.

I assume that the argument for Faletau is that he looked completely battered and ancient in the 6N, and would struggle to get in most teams.Tichtheid wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:20 pmMorgan, Reffell and Wainwright would be my choices ahead of Pollock right now, there is an argument for Faletau too.Oxbow wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:18 pmEven the Welsh can't think of three back rows that should go on the Lions tour.Tichtheid wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:16 pm The guy is going to be a star, undoubtedly, but I can think of three Welsh back rows I'd pick in front of him right now.

Pollock is getting glazed for sure, but push back sensibly, at least.

Seems to be a collective amnesia about how comprehensively Morgan was dismantled by an English back row he will likely tour ahead of. Parisse syndrome - being a decent player in a shit team means people talk about you.Hal Jordan wrote: Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:32 amI assume that the argument for Faletau is that he looked completely battered and ancient in the 6N, and would struggle to get in most teams.Tichtheid wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:20 pmMorgan, Reffell and Wainwright would be my choices ahead of Pollock right now, there is an argument for Faletau too.Oxbow wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:18 pm

Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
Morgan made more tackles than anyone else in the 6N, he was 4th in successful clean outs, 2nd in defensive ruck arrivals, 5th in attacking ruck arrivals.
