After years of MMP kingmaking it would be very refreshing to see Labour win the mandate to govern alone.

Can they do it?

Too easily rebutted when she goes with the bullshit (e.g. Labour will be forced to implement the wealth tax or the Greens will bring it in when she's on holiday with Shaw as deputy P.M.) and the fat-shaming post for old big-hips - WTAF?
Makes it possible that the debate tomorrow gets a bit feral.

As some commentators have said, she may not be there to win but more to make sure its not a bloodbath. If she can get her base to back her she might still have a job after the election.

Still can't see them getting up, with any bleed from labour's vote likely to have a boost to the greens to keep them above 5%

The Greens never seem to do as well as they poll. Seems that they can answer the phone but can't get off their asses to vote.

Yes, of course. Who else would use that term?😂

Also... there’s nothing ‘new’ about being conservative. They’re just using the term to brand their revamped line of hatred for all things not white, xtian and ironically anti immigration.

Yep, it's looking like a landslide. Would this be the first time a party could govern alone, if they wanted to, under MMP?

Ilam may go red - Labour have a 2,000+ lead currently with a quarter of the vote counted.

I believe it would be and it could pose an interesting predicament. Would Labour be better to keep Green voters onside by having them in Government (knowing they could out vote them if needed) or would they choose to go alone?

He’ll still be in parliament because of his place on the list, unfortunately.

On one hand they’ll want to keep as much experience as they can but this as a butt kicking of magnificent proportions and he’s lost a blue ribband seat.

The Nats might just go for a big brave clean out.

Oh well, we'll see what this "change" kool-aid really brings.

Happy to see the tired old conservative bullshit take a giant kick in the balls though.

Jacinda is a decent leader and a decent politician. Her party falls over a bit on those capable of backing her up as far as I see.
I personally think a good leader with a good profile around the world should serve us pretty well, perhaps allowing us to slip a foot in the door where we may have been shut out.

Her bunch aren't hardcore lefty weirdo's which the polls have shown. There's enough there to be optimistic.

Yes, I’m happy with that. Her first term was a difficult coalition with an obstructive partner ideologically unsuited. It looks as if they may be able to govern alone, a first for any party under the NZ MMP electoral system. That being the case I’m keen to see them push through with some of the policy initiatives that they’ve made little ground on, to somewhat justifiable criticism.

Labour is a vote for more of the same, and I think serious changes are needed. Inequality is getting worse and house prices are going insane. Labour won’t fix this.

You'd hope so. They're pretty much bereft of fresh people and ideas at the top, as far as I can see.

My home electorate, Rangitata, goes red. Unbelievable.

I know the boundaries were redrawn in the naughties letting a lot of those lefty South Canterbury cunts in, but still, remarkable.
