This is what failure looks like! Compete and utter incompetence by a bunch of naive, moronic idiots being played relentlessly by Putin. Complete lack of self awareness and how much everyone is laughing at them and their sheer, miserable bullshittery. Utter fuckwitts! all they have done is make things worse, embolden Putin and let more people get murdered. Hell is too good for them.

It was inevitable that US Cabinet would get annoyed by repeatedly “not winning in the peace process in Ukraine” and looking stupid & would walk away.

If they actually really meant walking away, that wouldn't be so bad but what they really mean is abandoning Ukraine and lifting sanctions on Russia.

I doubt Europe will play along with this. Will be interesting to see what China does.

Putin declares an Easter truce.

Too much to hope they might extend it but it’d be decent cover for him to find a route out of the hole he’s dug himself.

They did this in 2023 at the Orthodox Christmas - barely halted hostilities ( e.g. allowed the Wagner Group to continue as normal) and then launched the major attack on Soledar straight after. Right now I'd bet on this being a cynical move for one of a number of reasons. Ukraine will reject this knowing it's highly likely to be "for show" only. I'm sure it will please the entirely impressionable DJT though.

Seems like they've already breached it, UAV assault on Kherson that damaged a residential building and caused fires.

Sectoral reports from various units indicate no change on 80% of the front.

The return of the deported Ukrainian children alone makes the whole ceasefire thing a non-starter. Both sides can say what they like, it's easy to say stuff. But with Trump's admin closing down the US government helping to track the deported children and the issue being non-negotiable from the Ukrainian point of view we can expect this war to carry on carrying on.

Another day, another version of the "truth"

He added there will be "very good proposals" for resolving the 'conflict' (Russian propaganda narrative) soon. Plain and simple, he's out of touch.

Wow, that sounds like it's a pretty big deal. Do we have any idea how much of Russia's ammunition stockpiles 100,000 tons would represent?

Latest proposal from the US once again very deliberately designed to fail knowing UA can't possibly accept it. Meanwhile of course no such approach to RU.

The U.S. is reportedly about to drop a 9-point “peace plan” for Ukraine, and it’s… complicated. The gist? A ceasefire, Ukraine agreeing not to join NATO, and sitting down for direct talks with Russia. In return, Russia would pull back from a couple areas in Kherson, but Ukraine would have to recognize Crimea as Russian—and basically accept that Russia controls parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.

Oh, and the U.S. would lift all sanctions on Russia (even the ones from 2014), and start working with them again on energy. Meanwhile, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant would technically stay Ukrainian, but be run by the U.S.—with power flowing to both Ukraine and Russian-occupied areas.

In exchange, Ukraine would get some “security guarantees” from a group of countries (but not the U.S.), some Russian troops would leave parts of Kharkiv, they’d get help rebuilding, and there’d be free navigation along the Dnipro River, which runs along the southern front line.

A plan that only suits…. Trump.

Money, celebrity, looking after no.1 and lately offering easy answers in a time of declining living standards. Seems almost overqualified to me.

Some of the most talented, competent people I've met in all walks of life have rarely, if ever, flaunted it. Knowing as much as they do, they're far more likely to possess the humility that comes with knowing how much they don't know or have yet to learn.

Then we move on to those pricks who don't know much, but believe that they do. And often interview way better as they have huge (over)confidence and a good grasp of how to bullshit their way in the door. And mask or deny their failings very well. For years. We all knew some. Takes a degree of brazen skill you'd suppose.

Pre-internet I think the rules were different. Right now, this narcissist clown meets the 'having a beer with' presidential bar just fine. Always comes out on top, winning hard and blaming the Deep State if he doesn't. If you don't confidently tell people what an amazing job you're doing how are they to know. And once they vote, like some horrible pyramid scheme they're progressively less likely to accept they threw good money after bad.

The 'not necessary' was a bit of a tell for me, despite all Trump's sincerely expressed concern about the 80,000 soldiers from both sides dying every week.

The idea that bombing civilian areas might ever be necessary at all is irrelevant, Trump could not give two f#cks about loss of life. He just wants his next shiny new DEAL.

The on again off again tarrifs could be on again if Trumps witterings about 2-3 weeks are to be believed. He's once again flapping in the wind as his 100 days is coming to an end shortly and not a win in sight. Japan left refusing to sign a deal. China had to remind everyone that it's false news they're talking to anybody. He got a deal with Vietnam, because they want to buy F-16s, didn't really have any options after the Russian gear went off the table so that barely counts. Zelensky and Putin are yanking his chain. Time for the penguins to step up.

It seems incredible that after previous assassinations that the Orc security is so lapse, that they are still happening ?

Makes me wonder if this was some internal housekeeping, with a veneer of plausible deniability.

Yep, weird.

And Ukraine's red lines for the negotiations:
- Ukraine will never recognize any part of its territory as Russian
- Ukraine will not agree to any restrictions on military, defense industry, or military aid from partners
- No third country has the right to veto Ukraine’s choices regarding membership in NATO and the European Union.
