I heard of a case in Europe last month but hadn’t realised there was a growing outbreak, probably because Trump is dominating the news cycle.

The UK has now banned import of cheese and meat products from the EU.

Off to Le Touquet next month for my annual golfing trip however the 2kg of Comte cheese and 6 saucisson I usually purchase looks like it is off the agenda now? There is a beautiful little fromagerie next door to hotel we stay at and they kindly shrink wrap my purchases for my drive home, I suppose I will just do some window shopping now.

Don't worry I will be stuffing my face with all your delicious food, it's one of the reasons we go to Le Touquet every year! I just cant bring any home to Scotland which is a bummer!

We are up in the Highlands and keep seeing signs about avian flu zones, not sure what it means to be honest

There’s a massive amount of avian flu in wild bird populations atm. You might just find a lot of dead birds somewhere (you probably won’t, but if you do, that’s likely the reason). It’s a novel strain, H5N1 I think, and we’re just waiting for it to jump to humans for a pandemic flu. It’s what caused all the drama over egg prices in the USA. Up until the last few months, the CDC in America was monitoring the strains in detail, so that we’d be able to produce a vaccine at pace. But Trump has dropped that, so when it jumps species, it’ll take longer to do and more people will die as a direct result of Trump and Musk.

All personal meat and dairy imports from the continent to GB are suspended due to the outbreak, so dpedin will need to chow through the lot before heading back through the tunnel

Have your fun but I don't think you appreciate what the loss of my Comte and saucisson means to me! I have 'friends' who depend on me bringing home a stash of Comte, as soon as I return home the phone starts ringing with folk looking for their wrap of Comte and slice of saucisson. Of course I can find a new supplier here but it isnt the same quality and a lot more expensive!
