I really think she is a very good ref, but that was a red all day.

Beheading?
The Georgian Lyon winger should have made a meal of it (not that I'd blame him if he did as it was a massive headbutt) then it would have been a red. I know that makes rugby like football but if referees won't referee then that's what will happen.

Not as weird as the Lynx bottom half spray ad with the basketball bloke sniffing the other blokes cock and the woman sniffing his arse in the cinema.

The Underhill decision is not on one group of officials - this is the standard now. Find any possible reason to lower the sanction based on either degree of force or mitigation.
Back when it was the high tackle framework there would be a forensic examination of whether there was a significant change in height or in direction. Now as soon as a ref can see any deviation they are relieved they can avoid the red card.

The current Officials will all be comfortably retired or dead when some lawyer has to explain to a Court how the IRB & Unions were absolutely committed to reducing dangerous head contact ......topofthemoon wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 8:25 pm The Underhill decision is not on one group of officials - this is the standard now. She is genuinely a terrific ref, but that was wrong.Punter15 wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 8:01 pmI really think she is a very good ref, but that was a red all day.
At the same time I agree with TOTM, the refs have obviously been told to mitigate as much as possible.

I wish the pundits had the bottle to say this, rather than blame the referee.

On Underhill, I’d be taking him to Oz despite only playing a fraction of the season

Underwood’s got a different level of power both in attack and defence. Very lucky boy tonight and I would be surprised if he wasn’t cited.Slick wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 9:38 pmCompletely, it’s getting more like footie, they know why it’s happening but prefer to create the outrage.Tichtheid wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 9:34 pmSlick wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 9:31 pm

He dropped his head like a bull running at another bull; that's incompatible with carrying out a tackle & he should be cited, & banned !duke wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 9:44 pmUnderwood’s got a different level of power both in attack and defence. I like Hollie as a ref but that should have been red

Tbh you have to factor in the commentator was Andy Goode, who makes his living by going viral for slating the ref just about every week.Slick wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 9:38 pmCompletely, it’s getting more like footie, they know why it’s happening but prefer to create the outrage.Tichtheid wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 9:34 pmSlick wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 9:31 pm

Poor decision mind, though none of the officials seemed to think it was a red.
Fortunately given it was a one sided game it doesn’t really matter, Bath were the only team in it before and after that moment. Congrats to them, we can probably all agree that’s enough silverware for one year now
