we've been hearing they'll be ready to build a bomb in weeks for 20+ years, there's more than a little boy who cried wolf to such claims now. not that I especially want to defend Iran's leadership, far from it
Must be one of the shortest ceasefires ever recorded!!!!lemonhead wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 7:12 am So. Ceasefire all but finalised, no wider escalation, oil back down below $70 and record trade volumes into the US.....

He does have a need to seek personal approval and acclaim however specious- nothing to do with raving Narcissistic Personality Disorder I'm sure. By now I believe that if I agreed with a shop over a refund he'd be on Twitter within 10 mins claiming the credit for it

Quite like that
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
In a weird way this clip sums up Trumps success in my view.
Sure, right wing, left wing, immigration etc. etc. but there's a chunk I reckon that are just so fed up of the political class they'll run towards anyone who doesn't sound like them.
I strongly suspect Netanyahu knows exactly what he is doing! He doesn't want a cease fire whilst he thinks he has the upper hand militarily and is desperate to do as much damage to Iran et al whilst he can. He is also desperate to keep the US tied into the conflict and indeed would like to see them more deeply involved. Methinks he has once again screwed Trump over in their game of 3D chess!
Close enough. This is Trump's problem solving process:_Os_ wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 1:12 pm It's not going to get to a ground invasion because at some point Trump is going to lose interest and go "cannot be fucked with this, let them fight it out! They gotta fight it out! Israel is costing us how fucking much?! Why isn't Gaza owned by the US yet?".
1. Assess situation and compact into half a sentence. Do this quickly only through talking to people (no reading, takes too long, doesn't always produce a clear view), in politics this can mean people like Netanyahu. Never deviate from the position reached, in this case "Iran cannot have nuclear weapons".
2. Talk to relevant actors, perhaps make extreme demands as a bargaining position. Make a clear divide between friends and enemies. Take max a few weeks doing this.
3. Take extreme action to directly address the identified problem. Regardless of what anyone says, the law, complaints it's not productive, etc.
4. If the problem was simple it is now fixed. If the problem has any complexity it's now more of a mess. If the former take credit. If the latter still take credit and also say "I did what I could and now don't care, fuck them/it/that!".
"TACO" doesn't accurately describe it. It's a good process for the simple problems a businessman faces, it is the sort of advice people pay a lot of money for. Terrible when applied to anything complex, Trump has had his incompetence exposed, he's not in control of this situation.
Lots of outrage from the Israeli government about what this Bob Vylan chap said. Just checking that this is the same Israeli government who have allowed their actual Ministers to advocate for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza?

I saw some woman on social media saying that because everyone else did a colonialism and the native people haven't been allowed to have self-determination in their own countries, neither can the Palestinians, and furthermore the actions of countries that were colonialist in the past disbars them from criticism of Israel's actions.Sandstorm wrote: Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:20 amThere's no self-reflection in Israel. This may well have been satire (I hope.so) but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there are people of a Zionist bent who think this is the case.

Russian Israelis make up 15% of the population. You can see the similarities.Sandstorm wrote: Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:20 amThere's no self-reflection in Israel. Great to see the likes of Farage and Fox frothing over the lyrics to 'I heard you want your country back' alsoSlick wrote: Mon Jun 30, 2025 9:19 am Lots of outrage from the Israeli government about what this Bob Vylan chap said. Just think, in the good old days all we had to worry about was Bill Haley corrupting our youth, or the long haired drug antics of the Beatles or David Bowie in a dress or the Sex Pistols saying rude words on telly or Madonna showing her naughty parts in a book or Holly Johnson and his song about Something Unspeakable or Russian lesbians being naughty in a video or Judas Priest telling people to kill themselves or Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath worshipping the Devil or any number of rappers telling kids to go on murder sprees or Marilyn Manson removing a rib to give himself blowjobs or jazz musicians tempting young people with their refeer madness.
Nowadays it's far worse!

Should have shouted "Death to trans people!" They could have been up for the EHRC vacancy.

Surprise. Dropping quarter tonne bombs on cafes causes civilian casualties.

Big takeaway from this Bob Vylan business is how Israel have their tentacles everywhere.
He got dropped by his agent, lost his US visa and this, that and the other. All par for the course in the fall out.
Now, though they are losing bookings on low level obscure festivals and events. There's no way the organisers aren't being pressured into that. As things stand he will be lucky to be able to get a gig playing the Dog and Duck
If you cross Israel you will be cancelled. Criticism of Israel can cost you your livelihood.

A very detailed article on the operations of the GHF inside the Gaza ghetto from the notorious anti-semites at Times of Israel.
