Except for the more than 100 people that did in fact die in Victoria today. Its like nothing but covid is happening in Victoria for some people.

Typical, you don't care about any other lives. They can die in huge numbers because to you they don't count if they don't have covid. All that matters is your precious covid scorecard.

Also Is this entire thread like 80 percent all your posts? Are you posting for your own gratification?

Hopefully the increase we are seeing in Victoria isn't a trend

Only four active cases across the entire state of QLD. Not bad for a jurisdiction of nearly five and a half million people.

My understanding is that there will be some easing of restrictions announced this Sunday, but it wont be a UK style "we'll give you vouchers to go to the pub" type of easing.

Yeah there was talk of opening up hospo again to outdoors service only, but I can't see that happening with 15 cases a day still being reported.

If we're lucky they might drop the 5km travel and two hour exercise limit. We might also be able to get a haircut again, though I did find a great pair of clippers at Myer so I'm not too worried about that one.

I know it's hard on Victorians, I have two brothers who live in Melb who I speak to every week. But you're on the cusp of being the first major jurisdiction in the world to beat your 2nd wave. Nowhere else has managed to achieve this.

Better infections data in Victoria today, but 5 deaths is obviously very sad. All 5 were residents in Federally regulated and funded Aged Care facilities.

This is the 2nd day in a row that NSW has had more infections, and locally acquired infections, than Victoria.

For the first time in weeks, Victoria is not the state recording the highest number of locally acquired cases.

That makes it harder for FauxMo to sing the praises of his Liberal leaders.

Jayden Guest, 21, drove down from Central Queensland to pick up his girlfriend. It had been eight months since they last saw each other. He was holding a bunch of red roses for Taren Kowalski and said he was flustered ahead of her arrival.

He received the phone call on Tuesday that Ms Kowalski had booked a ticket on today's flight and immediately packed the car and drove to Sydney. While the couple were unsure how they’d spend the day, they were thrilled to be reunited.

In completely surprising news out of Victoria overnight, 17 NZers have been detained at Tullamarine after arriving from Sydney where they had caught a connecting flight after being among the first to travel from NZ under the ‘travel bubble’ proudly announced by the Federal government in recent weeks.

There are a number of issues to sit back, point at and laugh in despair at within this situation. Chief among them would be the ease with which international travellers were able to book and occupy flights into a restricted zone. Echoes of the Ruby Princess debacle slap from wall to wall here like a fruity wet fart in a lift. My bet? Watch every administration involved deny responsibility.

Secondary to that is the confusion which reigned over the terms of the supposed travel bubble with NZ media asking direct questions of the Home Affairs dept regarding terms of travel just this week and the dept being unable to provide an answer, before the details of the arrangement were finally released via their website the day before travel commenced.

Anyone looking forward to an end to restrictions, lockdowns and the like along with some sort of return to interstate and international travel would be looking at this development in despair. This is jokeshop stuff. Simple, barefaced incompetence.

Muppets.

Victoria is now the world's gold standard when it comes to managing a 2nd wave. Leaders in Europe, North America and other jurisdictions are now looking at what Victoria has done as an exemplar. Three months ago they had 700+ new cases daily, today they recorded just one. But they are still be sued for imposing lockdowns and restrictions.
High Court challenge to lockdown could be heard as soon as November
By Georgina Mitchell

A constitutional challenge to the validity of Victoria's COVID-19 lockdown rules could be heard in the High Court as soon as November.

Prominent hospitality figure Julian Gerner filed a case this week which argues a section of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act – conferring emergency powers to allow the restriction of movement – is invalid due to the implied freedom of movement in the Constitution.

Mr Gerner will also argue the invalidity of six lockdown directions, including the five-kilometre rule and essential worker permits, due to the same implied freedom.

In court documents, Mr Gerner says his restaurant in Sorrento, on the Mornington Peninsula, is a "highly seasonal business" which generates most of its $2-million-a-year profits in the six months starting from the beginning of November.

The documents state that in April 2019 he had sales of about $250,000, however in April of this year sales dropped to $25,000 amidst the state's first lockdown.

So 7 new cases in NSW today, including 5 local transmission cases. That's worrying. Today NSW has recorded 7 x as many cases as Vic and QLD combined. The gold standard.

More great data for Victoria. That 14 day average will be below 5 within a week.

Cheers. Interesting stats, given something like 70% of the quarantine spend is on arrivals from Australia.

At first I found that surprising but then, there’s so many of us here in Oz and the lure of home now is very strong.

I have three workmates who have decided to return in coming weeks. We’ve all been here since early March and they’ve got family drawing them back. It’s been a marathon stint for all of us. They report the process to be fairly simple, contact immigration, apply for a voucher for your isolation accommodation and then boom tickets. There are grace periods applied for booking issues.

I’m hopeful we’ll see some movement towards two way non isolation travel soon. The arrival of Kiwi passengers into non bubble states may actually help move the process along, SA premier whatsisname has said he’ll review the issue regarding SA borders. I hope NZ can consider allowing travel from Covid free states like SA but the recent debacle of non cooperation between Feds and States over arrivals wouldn’t be viewed with any confidence from the NZ end.
