Dragons XV 10 vs Scarlets A 36. As expected, the Scarlets pack just too strong for the Dragons. The Dragons backrow was impressive - Basham and Fry in particular being absolute bloody nuisances and smashing into everything they could. I've said it before, if Dragons had the quality coming through in more positions like they do the backrow they'd be golden.
Jarred Rosser looked good - worked his arse off, and there were some glimpses of what could have been from guys like Aneurin Owen, but the backline had scraps to work off. Defence was admirable for long stretches of the game but with scrum creaking and lineout misfiring, plus the substitute 10 Will Reed missing touch with a couple of penalty kicks, we never got into the game ball in hand, and it just kept coming back until eventually the dam burst.
Set piece seems to have degenerated recently, and phase play still looks ponderous. If Ryan can't find a way to inject pace into our carrying we're going to keep getting put on the back foot. The likes of Basham and Fry can't do it all in the pack (honourable mention to the carrying of Josh Reynolds late on and Rio Dyer too for that matter). A few phases of one up carries and then lose it or kick was a pattern we've seen too many times. Needs a re-think. Most of these guys haven't played in a while and they were outmatched up front...but still, getting the basics wrong too often to stick in games and put the opposition under pressure.

Apols for the post on a National thread ... but just watching a youtube video of a Documentary on Aberfan .... holy sweet Jesus .... how the fuck isn't Welsh Independence at the same level as Scottish ??? 
I mean; I'd always had a wee bit of knowledge of the Disaster, but I'd never understood just how awful the handling, by both main Westminster Political Parties, of the bereaved was; & how the NCB could happily kill children in Wales, with the same impunity as Union Carbide in Bhopal; with even less consequences.
It's incredible that an, "accident"; if corporate manslaughter is ever an accident, of more than hundred children, can have such a low profile. We only have to look a year back for a similar incident in Brazil, that cost almost twice as many lives; to see that the lessons have not be learned, 70 odd years later; & lives will continue to be lost, until we see, & acknowledge the mistakes that are being made.

FF, this doesn't get anywhere near the coverage Hillsborough has had (both were truly terrible). It's been quietly airbrushed out of history sadly.

Welsh Independence is surging right now, off the back of Westminster incompetence. In June the number reporting they would vote yes was 25%, by August it was polling at 32%, and I wouldn't be surprised if the next poll shows higher still. Drakeford, ironically a unionist through and through, has shown that actually when Wales is governing Welsh affairs we can be effective. Boris, and the incompetence and corruption going on throughout the government, is doing an amazing job - it's managed to wake Wales from its political torpor and made people think 'well, we couldn't do any worse'.
I'm not sure drakeford has done anything to be proud of, his general stance has been wait and see what westminster does, change it in a small and anal way, then criticise westminster. Lookout frodder, I will be making a beeline for the border if we come to that.

For what it's worth I think Sheedy is probably going to be a tidy international player, but I feel like they're making it impossible for the average fan, who hasn't been watching Bristol, to not get their hopes up. If he doesn't play like Barry John they might be disappointed.

You know how it is though, particular with WOL, a player becomes their flavour of the month and then every other article is about them. I really do think that this autumn should be used to heavily blood younger players and experiment a bit. Have a proper mix of youth and experience. Now we know we’re a top seed for the RWC the pressure should be off. How’s the time to make mistakes and learn from them.
