He'll probably do something daft now, but I've been impressed with Carre. Been one of the few who's managed to match the French for physicality, and largely held his own in the scrums.

I do miss a belting rendition of, "La Marseillaise'.
I used to sing along with it in Lansdowne Road, back in the mists of time; it's a belter of a National Anthem

We don’t lose that game 2 years ago even with the french brilliance. The attack has marginally improved but defence has taken a giant step back

Fairly disappointing. Hard to know whether score is a fair reflection. France were clearly the better team, but Biggar left 8 points on the fielder, and we fucked up on their try line with that quick tap towards the end. Add in that France has that one opportunistic try, and the game could have been close at the end.
Having said that, we were well beat up front and spent almost the entire match on the back foot' whether that was in attack or defence.
The biggest concern for me is the attack. Pivac was specifically brought in as an antidote to the Gatland years of crash-ball only attacking...yet we look as bad, if not worse, than anything we put out under Warren-ball.

They’ve improved set moves but look clueless any other timeJeff the Bear wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 9:03 pm

I thought we looked tired and a step back to the bad old days, we must start to bring on the youngsters Bigger should have left the field he was clearly injured. after 10 mins there was no spark or energy and we just lost our way.
France will beat Ireland then are playing with flair and attack and looked good.

Have to say that team looked very old and tired last night. Was also amazed at the ground France were making running hard and straight. AWJ looked like he was playing a game too far in particular.clive wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 9:07 pm I thought we looked tired and a step back to the bad old days, we must start to bring on the youngsters Bigger should have left the field he was clearly injured. after 10 mins there was no spark or energy and we just lost our way.

This of course doesn’t mean in any way I’m predicting we will beat you next week, just an observation. Also, Dupont is the best player in the world at the moment
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
I hope that Wales don't play that badly next week, It was clear players were lacking game time looked knackered looked bewildered, and have said themselves was way above what they've been playing.
But they did have 2 weeks prep which should have helped, so that's four defeats in a row but at least in those losses we were competing, yesterday we were a shambles in defence and blunt in attack, and if your gonna stick the ball in the air try to compete or at the very least pressure.
I hope Pivac proves himself to be the right choice and with time will get things in track, my concern is there are players coming to the end of their days and players who are just not cutting it anymore, North looks like a forward out of position and is posing no threat, Toby is not playing as well as he should Webb's best days seem to be gone, Bigger was blows hot and cold Pence just runs into brick walls his Ariel game was a waste of time, Wainwright is not at the races, and so on.
France have found their feet having spent years rotating players they have the best half backs in world rugby a mobile forward and have that classic French flair back in abundance.
Two of the tries they scored yesterday were brilliant and no defence in the world would have coped, the only frailty is discipline, in close games that will cost them, the good thing for them is that they have a good team to build on.
Wales right now are going backwards and from a top 4 side to a 7 8 placing.
The Welsh players are much better than the effort they put in yesterday, but the pressure is on, Pivac wants to play a certain way he must find the players to execute it, if it means letting go some big names then he has to do it.
You cannot have players on past reputation going on, Backrow halfback, full back and wing all need addressing.

tbf, on second viewing, the players dont exist in wales, or are injured, who could've done anything, bar the BR
If we do play such lightweight locks like hill, he must be compensated for in the aggregate, SLH, Navidi, Wainwright.
Fuck knows where we go at hooker, 9, 12, 13, fb and wing tho

Carrying was an issue but bigger problem was clearing out... How did they not see that France were flooding the breakdown and making our ball messy?
Aerial contest was poor. Seemed to always be going for taps back and lost the ball way too many times that way. Stupid, and didn't change tack.
Not taking biggar off when he was clearly not right surprised me. If he'd kicked his kicks we might have made more of it... Not that we particularly deserved to.
Little point criticising the backs when the ball was so poor.
Lots that can be put down to rustiness and the French being a much better side these days, especially with a Shaun Edwards defence, but worrying signs of inability to adapt when problems with the desired style are apparent. Need to be better in almost every facet of the game.
