2020/21 Carling Currie Cup
I do wish they would announce those Bok matches they were talking about a few weeks ago. Just to give this competition some meaning.
At the moment there is nothing tabled between the end of Currie Cup and the Lions tour. Still no official word on our Pro16 involvement which should start in Jan or Feb .

Sadly Sards like a true Cape Crusaders running with the FleeWee trollers like AC who dont have a clue about this.
Oom, that is what happens when you only become a rugby fan in your 50's. We grew up with rugby, we had a rugby ball with us in the cot. We don't have to quote stats to show we support rugby.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:34 am Sadly Sards like a true Cape Crusaders running with the FleeWee trollers like AC who dont have a clue about this.

I get that. But life goes on and we need to plan for the future, especially with the recent news about vaccines.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:33 am Our Corvid-19 situations is very brittle. You only understand this if someone close to you get very sick from it.
I agree that the vaccine news is great, but what is the timeline on rolling it out? But yeah, setting dates will show that we are positive about actually going ahead with Internationals.assfly wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:38 amI get that. At least we have some rugby and should appreciate it as is. We dont know when they will take it away from us. Can be January , can be in two weeks time.
The irony.....yesterday Rassie was a tactical genius...Argentina smash the ABs and draw with the Aussies without us...now we go begging for money...I don't like being that guy.handyman wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 6:37 amOom, that is what happens when you only become a rugby fan in your 50's. I would have loved to have watched the boks beat the ABs....but tactically we increased our lead in the rankings without playing......get itOomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 9:31 amThe irony to comment on rugby and you havent watch any since March?

Probably enough beef in that side to get past the Pumas, but it still looks disjointed. Quite a few new names on the bench. Not sure why they don't start Penxe at 15 and Nkosi at 14.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 12:07 pm Sharks team vs Pumas

Libbok is kak, why don't they start Nkosi, Ward is a walking, talking penalty and card machine, Bosch is afraid to tackle, Van der Mescht out of position, Richardson shifted between hooker and open side, no beef in the locks and a few nobodies on the bench.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 12:07 pm Sharks team vs Pumas

Richardson beat Scarra with his lineout throws.

Libbok is kak, nobody is going to dispute that. Poor signing, must have got in at a bargain price.
Ward - I keep hearing about the cards and penalties but yet to see this.
Bosch doesn't like tackling is old news. Yet he keeps winning MOTM awards. Interesting.
Van der Mescht hasn't totally impressed yet, worth giving him a run at flank
Richardson is a better flank than hooker from what I've seen this season.
Looks have been work-shy this season, but they were both in good form earlier this year.
Nothing wrong with giving a few newbies a run, we have to start somewhere.
Glad they're mixing it up a bit. We've been poor so at least we're trying things. This season is a write off anyway, so may as well prepare for next year. Whatever that means.
Valid points. IMO any rugby is better than no rugby, so to see posters on here moaning about the quality is very sad. Expected of some tho.assfly wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 6:10 amI'll bite.handyman wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 1:16 pm Libbok is kak, why don't they start Nkosi, Ward is a walking, talking penalty and card machine, Bosch is afraid to tackle, Van der Mescht out of position, Richardson shifted between hooker and open side, no beef in the locks and a few nobodies on the bench.

On a sidenote, I see that Stonehouse is becoming very popular with his honesty and way of working with the media and his players with limited funds. Top, top man that.

I would really have thought that The Bulls would be interested in him.
Interested to watch the Province vs Bulls game...Kolisi is back so that's a huge advantage to WP.......Pundits are saying that this is what WP needs...being second on the rankings and 2nd favourite to win the CC.......Its all to play for .

Agree with all of that. Even though we know what Notshe can do I'm not convinced JJ at 7 is going to lead to anything, whereas improving game at lock and getting that scrum steady will lead to something permanent.handyman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 6:21 amValid points. Was surprised the Cheetahs didn't pick up Stonehouse, but he has been doing his good job there for a decade(?) now. I have to feel that there is something personal preventing him moving on to a better gig either locally or abroad. Even if it was taking a step back to be an assistant coach and biding for a chance.
Ward has a reputation. A hard tackling centre you dont want to have coming at you...Of course he will be feared and vilified...assfly wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 6:10 amI'll bite.handyman wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 1:16 pm Libbok is kak, why don't they start Nkosi, Ward is a walking, talking penalty and card machine, Bosch is afraid to tackle, Van der Mescht out of position, Richardson shifted between hooker and open side, no beef in the locks and a few nobodies on the bench.

Libbok...yeah.....not quite in the quality range of Fassi....hes a retreaded lightweight flyhalf.
Bosch got Flyhalf of the season against some top quality in Morne and Jantjies......so its a bit ironic really and an agenda that suites others.
Van Der Mescht comes with a great pedigree....the Youtube vids I have seen of him promises a lot more for the future.
Richardson...ja well...I need to see more passion.
I agree I'd rather this rugby rather than no rugby, but we have every right to moan. It has been poor.
It's not necessarily a South African thing either, some of the NH games have been boring as hell. Some say it's a cyclical thing that happens after world cups, where defence tends to dominate and teams prefer to play without the ball. I swear I've seen more turnovers this year than ever before, to the point where going into a tackle becomes a complete lottery.
Not having fans definitely has an impact, but I'd still like to see the teams trying to throw the ball around a bit more. And working on basic skills at the same time.

Hawies is a very good coach. He did the hard yards at Free State, had big success at Maties. Saw some of his Maties coaching personnel at Cheetahs.TheNatalShark wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 7:20 amAgree with all of that. I'm not sold on Hawies. Always rated him, but I think Currie Cup level is his peak. I think he was crazy to leave Maties, had a good career going there and very successful.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 9:28 amHawies is a very good coach. I Think this will be a tough game for the Bulls. Last WP/Bulls game at Newlands, so I assume the WP players will be really up for this game.
When it comes to the bulls I love the way Gans and Arendse have adapted to the 15's game. Adapting much better than most 7 stars so far. Specially Gans has been great at 13....for my part he has been the form 13 in SA since Rugby restarted. Very elusive on attack, extremely fast of the mark and pretty solid in defense.

WeePee defense the key, specially in midfield. Thats where they broke us.
Breakdowns with Kolisi back also a big worry. van Staden is going to have a field day.
Grobbies also back in 2 for the Bulls. He had a very good game against the Stormers.

They're the best two teams in the competition in my opinion.
