Try Bulls, but the ref was very lenient at the ruck to penalise WP for collapsing

WP left 10 points out there with poor kicking. When will they learn that they need Kade.

Duanne is a genuinely great bloke.
He lived down the road from me in Durbanville. Saw him often. And he was a good bloke then.

After the weekend:
The Bulls played well at stages, were lucky to win.
The WP didn't play all that well, should have won. If they play to their potential they will be in the final. In my opinion: play Swiel or Quade. Willemse just is not a 10.
The Sharks played efficiently. Did the job. There is something about how they played that made me think that they could just get it right

My take on the weekend.

One game totally one-sided.
One game ruined by the weather
One game ruined by the ref

I'm starting to worry about the upcoming Lions series.

Yep, Rasta is a qouta, I could not understand that red card, thought it should not even a yellow. Justice in the end with the Bulls win.

This is very good medicine for WeePee. The next two games is make or break for them.

Probably the most pleasing aspect of the poor reffing is that the right outcome still occurred irrespective of the poor calls. I understand that there was a lot of emotion attached to the game but getting a result should not influence a game. Huge kudos to the Bulls for pulling it off. That is JWs influence.
I never enjoyed Whites stint at the Sharks because he was trying to knock a square peg into a round hole, but he has found the right home at the Bulls.

Ja they showed some real nerve at the end, especially without a crowd and a player down.

Nope. Not how I saw it. The TMO said yellow, the Ref then went red and the TMO changed his mind.

Is it fair of you to complain about the weather ruining the Sharks match? We all know that it will be hot and humid in Deben in late November.

I understand that. But the TMO has the advantage of technology to make the call. Surely he can override the ref on field. Which is why I said final call. Or am I wrong?
In the context of the game it gave the Stormers a huge advantage at scrum time...their go to penalty

In my understanding the Ref has the say. However, in this instance the TMO advised a yellow, and when the Ref said red should have stuck to his guns and said "My recommendation is yellow".

Either way it was never a red, maybe a yellow.

Apparently there is a code that the TMO and the ref can communicate to each other in. If one doesn't agree with the other one, they say something like "I think you need to have another look at it" or "can show you another angle".

Either way, the general standard of reffing around the world is the lowest it's been in a long time.

2. Possible foul play. The TMO is free to communicate with the referee at any time if he sees something he suspects is foul play. Equally, the referee can ask the TMO to look at an incident, either while the game continues or after stopping play.

Strong signal: referees can draw a box to signify to the crowd that a decision has gone to the TMO (Getty)

Doesn’t it hold the game up?

Yes. But efficient use of the TMO system has improved over the years. Referees have been encouraged to refer fewer decisions ‘upstairs’ in a bid to reduce the interruptions.

Usually the footage is shown on a big screen inside the ground. If he likes, the referee can make a quick decision himself, without waiting to hear what the TMO has to say.

World Rugby spell out in their laws that “the referee should not be subservient to the system” and that he is “the decision-maker and must remain in charge of the game”.

Generally what happens is that the referee will relay “what I’m seeing” to the TMO, who will agree with him. The decision is made and the game resumes.

But there are instances of TMOs trying to persuade a referee to change his mind. If they say “Would you like to look at it again?”, it suggests they think the ref has made the wrong call!
My apologies. Ref has final say.
