Holy crap boys. My quest 2 arrived today. Absolutely loving it. Setup is nice, First Steps is gorgeous, just played 30 minutes of SuperHot and my quads are aching (not done much exercise recently). Simply stunning, would highly recommend it!

Watching it on a flatscreen, vs actually being inside, is just not comparable. Don't know if anyone has watched any footage, but the scenes where you're in the room with the computers, on a monitor, it doesn't look impressive at all, but when you're in it? Fantastic.

I remember just how excited I was by the stupid setup program that teaches you how to interact with the environment on the Quest 1. Absolutely mad to just pick up an item then hit it with a bat and watch it fly.

That reminds me - when you get a chance can you try casting it to a TV or mobile device? The Quest 1 is dreadful for that, it almost never works.

Plan on trying it this evening. From what I've heard from reviewers, it's meant to be much better. Should be able to cast to my firestick apparently.

So it casted to my phone with no hitches whatsoever, very easy. Still trying to work out how to cast it to my firestick, wasn't picking up the device, but I've read there's also apps I can use. Or I might be able to mirror from the device, to my phone, to the firestick...

I'm taking another run at Hollow Knight after being a bit frustrated by it first time round. Don't know what's changed in a year or so, but everything's going a lot more smoothly than I recall with the first attempt. It' a gorgeous game. Platformers seem to be undergoing a bit of a resurgence, but lots of the ones I get recommended on the Steam store have really lacklustre visuals by comparison.

That is pretty, if anything it is too pretty, needs a bit of wear and tear on it to make it ultra realistic.

I played through HK earlier this year. My advice is: stick with it. I was really frustrated by it in the early stages and nearly dropped it, but after a certain point the world opens up a lot and you get more used to using the different abilities. I ended up loving it, though a couple of the bosses were a major pain.

I've already ended up going much further than my previous attempt and plenty of time on my hands. Only in the 5th region atm, but even thus far the variety of design for the land, fauna and flora is outstanding.

Sony confirmed today that the existing PS4 will soon let you access your other PlayStation consoles remotely, including the PS5:

We’re updating PS4’s Remote Play feature. Now, in addition to being able to access your PS4 from a PC or a mobile device, your PS4 can access other consoles via Remote Play too, right on your TV. This includes the ability to connect to your PS5 and stream a PS5 game to your PS4 so you can play it there.

So after 11 months I finally finish Witcher 3 and the DLC's. What a game. So much content.
HoS main quest is one of the best told stories I've come across in any game.

Xbox series X or Playstation 5, without going into too much detail?

I just had a chance to try out the PS5 over the weekend. A friend got his last week. I am definitely going for the PS5 next year. Currently I have the Xbox One, but after trying out the PS5 and hearing what some other people I know said about their new Xboxes, PS5 seems the way to go at this early stage. So back to PS it will be for me.

And that new PS5 Controller is fantastic. Can't wait when more new games come out that are specially designed to make use of the full functionality of it. It definitely adds to the playing experience, even though i only tried out Demon Souls. I think Microsoft missed a trick with their controller.

I read a review from someone who played the new COD and he says the controller are offering a completer new feel to the game. For example depending on the gun you use, the adaptive triggers will react differently to aim and shoot. He says using one of the heavy machine guns are a lot more difficult to aim with the new triggers as they mimic the heavy weight of the gun, so it is much harder to push the button to aim, etc.

I also like the fact that the PS5 has support for VR, so you can use the PS4 VR on it, and Sony has hinted that they are working on a new VR for the PS5 but there are no release date on that yet.

With the Xbox not having any support for that at this stage is a bit of a negative for me. Apparently they are not planning anything related to VR either.

I just bought Skyrim again yesterday on the Xbox One. Pretty decent deal with the Black Friday stuff going on. Played it when it first came out on PS4 years back, until some kids destroyed my PS4, so been years since I payed it. I think it is remastered too, so will be interesting. Will be a few months before I buy the PS5 as well. I most probably will be part of the 3rd wave of buyers

Having a great time with the Quest 2. Been playing a lot of beat saber, enjoying watching some programs on it too, cinema like feel. Not watched any 3d films yet. Currently black friday sale is on, and I've bought the table tennis game that lots of people recommend, it's pretty damn good. Played a few games against strangers and had a good time. It's a hugely social device. Convinced my 80 year old dad to get one, and he's probably played/used it more than I have. Bought us both a copy of a realistic looking fishing game, and hope to spend an evening a week fishing with him. Fantastic bit of kit.

It's not exactly free, but it still bloody good. Means I can play with my boy on the xbox and pick things out on the PC for myself. Though right now, all my gaming time is absolutely dominated by my Quest 2. Don't have much room as I can't play in the lounge at the moment due to the christmas tree, however, I've been fishing a ton and loving it. Forget your incremental improving xbox/ps purchase :D, get yourself a quest 2!

So I've been really loving my quest 2 headset. VR is brilliant. The standalone games are brilliant, and get you moving, some fantastic social stuff too. Just now I tried out the free PC game I got for having the headset, Asgards Wrath, 130gb+, think I've play about 40 minutes so far, maybe an hour? Loving it. Been looking about people talking about Skyrim VR, think I've got to try it now. Fallout 4 in VR is doable too. Not sure my PC can handle all of this but holy hell it's amazing. I only wish I had a larger play space, higher too, when defending myself from the Kraken launching ships at me, I smacked the light. Thankfully no damage, but all swordplay from now on will be done crouching....

If you get a chance to try one, try it. If you've got some spare pennies, and are getting bored with the xbox/playstation rehashes, absolutely try it. It is basically a console in terms of it being a standalone experience, but if you happen to have a good PC as well, then there's a lot of stuff out there on top.

Whilst I've never been in a rush to upgrade my console, always happy to wait for the price cuts etc, I'm telling you right now, I'm pre-ordering the next quest headset (unless they reduce the IPD range they support at the lower end).

My normal game time rarely exceeds 1 hour sittings, r eal life will prevent me playing almost any game for too long in one sitting, so it wouldn't really be that far out for me anyway. There are occasional game sinks that I can shoot past that, but it's rare. I've got a pretty good setup on my headstrap now, so it's fairly comfortable, but I think I need to try out the virtual desktop wireless option, graphics will take a hit I imagine, but if I can get rid of the wire and be less worried about the low light by playing elsewhere, that'd be awesome.

It's absolutely fantastic for me so far. I've been really enjoying the standalone stuff, but Asgards Wrath has just taken it up a few more notches. It's just so much better than looking at a monitor for immersion.

I've upgraded from a 970 to a 1080ti using the ebay GPU switcheroo it only net cost me about £230.

Playing stuff in 4k on a PC monitor has ruined 1080p for me - its amazing.
