Cricket: Official Blackcaps thread the people’s #1
Good analysis.
It would be interesting to see the results that haven’t counted over the championship period. For example, we had a series victory over England that didn’t count towards championship points. What happened to Australia and India in their non-counting series? It doesn’t change anything but would be interesting nonetheless.

I don't think they had any - probably because both teams play enough tests as is. Aus were meant to play a non-counting test against Afghanistan that got canned.Jb1981 wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:14 am Good analysis.

If everything goes ahead from here, England and India will have played all 6 series they originally had scheduled, and NZ and Aus will have both played 5. Both had 2 test tours to Bangladesh cancelled - would have been interesting what impact those had.

Very interesting — good job!mrbrownstone wrote: Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:29 am [snipped many useful details]
For NZ fans, they takeaway is basically whoever wins this ongoing India vs Aus series should ideally do so 3-1. That would mean either India have to sweep England 4-0 or Aus have to sweep SA 3-0 in SA.
Just hope it's not all for nought — there has to be considerable doubt about this match going ahead.

Test matches confirmed for England and india- again 2 tests- good news is that the home tests were not the usual financial black hole

Wonderful news. First tour to England since 2015 and the home series against SA will be proper challenges. Haven't won a series in England in 20 years, and have never won one against SA, but will probably never get a better chance against a rebuilding side at home. We've been asking for chances to prove ourselves against the big boys and this is good reward. Now we need to take it. I fear India away will be a bridge too far, but you never know - we've done well in Sri Lanka and the UAE. Bangladesh at home should be a formality.Monkey Magic wrote: Sat Jan 09, 2021 8:21 pm Test matches confirmed for England and india- again 2 tests- good news is that the home tests were not the usual financial black hole

It's good scheduling too, which we haven't always been able to say. Let's just hope those England tests are a warm up to a bigger prize...

One to keep an eye on for BCs fans: Finn Allen.
He was our top scorer in the 2018 U19s WC (ave. 47 striking at 100 in his Youth ODI career), and now starting to dominate the Super Smash. Last 5 innings in the Super Smash: 53 (23), 11 (8), 91* (50), 75 (39), 92* (43). Ave 107.33, SR 198, top scorer in the league so far with 322 (163). Going at a fair clip there.
Just 21 so let's hope he can keep this up.

From Cricinfo on what an Indian win would mean for the WTC:
Australia will drop to 69.2 and will need 89 points from the series against South Africa to go past New Zealand. That can only happen if they win at least two Tests and draw the third, in which case they will get 93 points from the series. Had Australia not dropped those four points for slow over-rate in Melbourne, they would have been on 70 even with a defeat. In that case, the runs-per-wicket ratio would have come into play (since teams have played an unequal number of series, the series wins isn't being considered in this cycle); currently, Australia's ratio is 1.42 while New Zealand's is 1.28.
India will move up to 71.67 with a win and will need 80 more points against England to top New Zealand. They can achieve that with a 2-0 series scoreline in the four Tests.

Does Fulton realise this is a charity match, not a test? Swing the bat and have a bit of fun, or get out. No one wants to see 25 (32).
