I suspect that it had more to do with the pitch than Linde's bowling. Which I'm inclined to feel the Pakistani wrist spinners will be able to utilise better, unfortunately.

That said, Linde has impressed me, both in this game and previously. I think I've made the point before and I believe my judgement was laughed at by some on here.

Elgar goes.

Can van der Dussen atone for his golden duck first innings?

If anybody gets run out this innings, I hope the scorch marks will be visible through their creams after they get hauled across the coals.

I presume the PCB are behind the projections shown on the coverage which predicts 97% in favour of Pakistan winning this game.

I'm not sure I disagree that the odds are in Pakistan's favour, but it had the draw being 2% with a South African win as around 1%.

If South Africa last the final few overs tonight and then bat out tomorrow for a draw, it's very hard to think that they won't end up getting all the runs required.

Maybe that's just me.

Afridi back on.

van der Dussen squirts him for four through slips, but he didn't look all that comfortable. Needs to hang in there...

It looks like Markram and RVDD have shut up shop for the day.

Must say, it makes me nervous.

Jesus, Rassie, don't fucking run yourself out.

Would have made it with the dive, even if it'd been a direct hit, but why take the risk?

Cricinfo says he would have been out if the fielder'd hit, but I suspect that it's just wishful thinking from the commentator.

Five and a half overs left to survive and Afridi is generating some pace.

The TV coverage now says that there are another 6 overs to go.

This pitch is easy. If we keep our heads, we’ll win by teatime tomorrow.

Nauman Ali replaces Afridi.

I thought it was getting a little dark for Afridi to be bowling.

I see the PCB have adjusted their prediction.

We now have a 35% chance of winning.

Stumps.

The fact that we've gone to the close without losing a wicket is a great positive.

Feeling amazingly optimistic.

That'll no doubt change when we lose both VDD and Markram in the first over tomorrow.

DO NOT get sucked in by them, giving hope and then ripping it away is a cruellest way possible is what the Proteas do best. You should know better by now!

Usually we come out on Day 5 and are 4 more down by lunch. This time it’ll be different.

We got this.

Markram is class, and Rassie is a competent and switched on cricketer; the key is how they handle the wrist spinners.

We have Faf, Bavuma and de Kock as well and if we start getting close it will become easier as the pressure goes back to the Pakistani bowlers. Linde and Mulder also, but if it gets down to Maharaj, Rabada and Nortje, we will be in trouble.

They need to get through the first few overs unscathed first, though.

van der Dussen departs after 2 balls, comprehensively bowled.

Ah well, all that optimism evaporating pretty quickly.

It looked like Rassie took his eyes off the ball.

Nervousnes, methinks.

Ramiz Raja and Wassim discussing how shit Faf's batting is, particularly on the Subcontinent and especially in the fourth innings.

They seem confident he won't last long. :lolno:

Bavuma not looking too comfortable against him.

Hasan looks as though he's injured himself celebrating.

This is quite tense.

Shah gets lippy with Bavuma in an attempt to unsettle him.

Feel sorry for Bavuma. Seems to have batted his whole career in a wobbly batting lineup. I feel if he had batted surrounded by Kallis, Smith, AB, Amla et al he would have made plenty hundreds. Duminy had that advantage and has a test average very similar to Bavumas. He gets an unfair rap imo.

I really rate him. A difficult bigger to get out. Of course, as soon as I write that, he'll probably lose his wicket.

Settle down boys. The name Themba literally means -"trust,hope" in isiXhosa. Bavuma's got this. Trust him and keep your hope up.

It's totally unacceptable at Test level unless
- you are trying to push the scoreboard
- you have Graeme Wood or Aloo at the other end

Game over now with Maharaj gone.

This collapse puts Coach Boucher under even more scrutiny.
