Another positive result this morning
That'll be cancellation then. France should forfeit if that happens.
I'm starting to get on board with that. How do you think most French fans would feel about that? Hard done by? Or would the anger be directed at FFR?
It's new for me too, but France have enough time to get the squad fit and clear for the trip to London on the 13th.
Award the match points to Scotland and move on.

No. Play the game. With someone, somewhere. In summertime, if needed.
Suppose this is awarded as 28-0, Scotland beat Ireland and Italy and end up winning their first 6N. How embarrassing would it be to lift that trophy?

It wouldn't be the same as winning it proper, but there is huge congestion in fixtures as it is, there is only one weekend available as far as I can see and that is next week, where the player release problem arises.
Get this bastard covid season done and let's get back to normal come September, with crowds.

It'll be the usual mix
- some will be in conspiratorial mode
- some will blame the FFR or the management. Plenty in the press rumour mill that it was Galthie himself who breached the protocols and hence was probably responsible for the spread
The downside is everyone from the public, to TV, the tournament organisers and sponsors are cheated because of one or two people's f**k up.
France have suspended training after another player tested positive for Covid-19 before Sunday's Six Nations match against Scotland.
Competition organisers had announced on Wednesday that the match would go ahead as planned despite an outbreak that saw 10 French players contract the virus.
The French Rugby Federation says, as a result of the latest positive case, "the entire group is in isolation".
It adds that it is in "close contact" with the Six Nations committee.
"Following the RT-PCR tests carried out this Wednesday, 24 February in the evening and the appearance of a positive case within the squad of players, the FFR medical committee met this morning and decided to suspend training," it said in a statement.

The problem is that we would still lose players due to player release and wouldn't have everyone available unless it is in an international window
Yup. No way should Scotland be the ones put at a disadvantage through no fault of their own.
Well, that sucks, but that was all too predictable. Wishful thinking to imagine we could have that many cases living together and we magically managed to exclude everyone affected in time. The rumour mill has picked up pace on Galthié being at fault for flounting the rules, and the minister is launching an inquiry. Complete clusterfuck.
Having that game take place Sunday would be stupid imho. Best way to get the Scots in contact with yet more dormant cases and wreck the rest of their tournament. Can't complain if it's treated as a forfeit. It's rough on the players, but as an organisation who (allegedly) couldn't follow the strict rules allowing the competition to take place, we deserve it.

Yes, agree with this, it's a bit of a farcical tournament in many ways anyway so just get it done, give the players a weekend off and move on.

I agree - cancel the tournament and void any results so far - start again in the Autumn...
I’d agree, but we just won at Twickenham for the first time since about 1739, so I really don’t want that result expunged!
I don’t want to be awarded the game as a forfeit, but let me say now that if we were to win the title as a result, I’m 100% taking it. Don’t care if there is a * by it, anything to get rid of the ‘never won the 6N’ baggage.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I felt the same when England fulfilled my sole childhood ambition of us winning the Autumn Nations Cup, presented by Amazon.

It’s just that after more than 20 years, we’re becoming hostages to a damn statistic. That’s why I don’t care that our win in Wales in the Autumn was at a weird time, or that it wasn’t in Cardiff, or that our win at Twickenham was in an empty stadium. They were monkeys we had to get off our back, and the circumstances don’t matter.

A cynic would say that the latest positive is convenient for France as even if the game goes ahead the SG might prevent Scotland travelling. Then the French can cry foul.

When half the team is away with the Lions
In all seriousness. The key players will be there which is enough to fuck Scotland right over..
Exactly. We had Finn Russell called up as a tackle bag holder last time round, which immediately led to our losing to Fiji. Scotland won’t be missing many players, just the few absolute game-changers, because they’re the only ones that ever get picked.

If Scotland are forced to play the rescheduled game with players missing they should just stick out the U20 squad and give a big fuck off to the 6N committee

That's exactly what I think. Treat it as a bit of a laugh, no reason to take it seriously.
