You can't beat a bit of sax incorporated into a 70s pop song, Enjoy.

If the thread continues there's going to be a lot of Michael Brecker solos

Some great sax work about 5 mins in. Not often you hear it used well in rock.

Cracking solo with killer bass!

(... is this the sort of thread that’d ban ‘Careless Whisper’ like guitarists ban ‘Stairway’?)

Not sure if this counts under the ‘pop’ banner, but the sax is strong in this

The most perfect sax entry note is in Joan Armatrading’s “Love and Affection”.

I have a soft spot for INXS’ Never Tear Us Apart, too.

Bugger. How could I forget that? Saw the film when released back in the days when there was a double feature. And the one chosen to be appropriate was Julian Temple's Punk Can Take It

Not 80s, but one very obvious, classic track, we're missing

Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones.

Back to the 80s, Sade's 'Smooth Operator' has an excellent sax interlude.

Another, from the 90s, and very underated. 'Search for the Hero' by M People

More recent. Strong Genesis prog rock vibe to this one. The sax serving to take it to 11.

And there is nothing better in sax world than Morphine. I am willing to die on this hill.

I'm currently reliving my 80's with the new 'Synthwave' sound doing the rounds. Bands like The Midnight, Gunship, Kavinsky, Timecop1983 have an abundance of 80's sax and programmed drum loops and cheesy lyrics about sunsets over Miami beaches and Lamborghinis.....and I am here for it.

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
