He is a good Soup player. Not many would suggest otherwise. He’s just not made of the right stuff to step up to the next level.

Performances like his one today hurt the ABs because they provide idiots (like Fozzie) with silly justifications for keeping him in the AB set up.

Exactly... the ideal bait and switch rugby player... planted by nature to derail the All Blacks.

Conversely there are players that looked average at Super level, but seemed to thrive at test level. eg Ryan Crotty.

I did get Crotty wrong at first. I’m sure others did, as well, because he came across as a bit of a journey man at Super level.

The difference is, though, that Crotty quickly showcased his qualities as a test player, while Jordie Barrett has consistently displayed his inadequacies.

People really need to get off Jordies back. He is still a kid FFS, people expect way to much from young guys these days, let him grow up jeez.

Amen NC, a fella has a bloody good game, and all the "experts" can just tell us how they can see why he shouldn't be an AB? Actually I still think the best thing I liked was that he ran that backline, he was talking and organising them all night. His main problem is his name is Barrett and I f***ed if I know why , but there seems to be a vein of posters who will just bristle when they see the name. Go figure
I will add his biggest problem surely is that 15s shouldn't be towering over most of your forward pack

So true.

Regardless of how well he plays, it seems there is no cure for Barrett Derangement Syndrome.

He was a kid 3 years ago, he should be peaking now for the next 4 years

Dan Carter was an AB at 21 and became a staple of the team a year later..Christian Cullen was 20 when he became an AB (15's) and owned the jersey the following year... Jordie's not a kid, he is just the next Colin Slade

So you're saying he's going to be a two-time World Cup winner like Colin Slade?

Pretty sure Jordie would take that.

This Blues/Chiefs game thrilling and immensely exasperating at the same time.

Dan Carter lost 2x RWCs, Cullen didn't win any RWCs. Jordie is on track to greatness if that's the case

I think his last two games have demonstrated why Otere Black is not an All Black in waiting.

I have been saying that the Blues forwards are great and the backs are crap.

But the Blues scrum got done over by a pretty much unheralded Chiefs pack tonight.

Chiefs are officially the jammiest team in the competition. 2x last minute tries in 2x games they didn't deserve to win.

Yeah, that was quite a surprise. I've always rated Aiden Ross and he played very well tonight.

at this stage if Jordan can't be AB fullback, i'd rather have DMAC than Jordie... that man shows size isn't everything

I've never seen DMac have a 30 point haul. Ever.

If Jordie starts for the ABs this year it has to be at fullback, shirley. He's wasted on the right wing. I wouldn't mind seeing how 15 Jordie, 14 Jordan and 11 Rieko would go, with McKenzie at 23.

Where will Beauden Barrett fit in? If you advocate dropping him, I will wildly and hysterically accuse you of Barrett Derangement Syndrome.

B Barrett has pace and J Barrett doesn't. It's a fatal flaw in Jordie's game.

But I could live with your back 3 turning out for the ABs. I'd prefer Caleb Clarke to Rieko, though.

Jordie may not have wing pace but he has fullback pace, along with great timing and support lines. And he's a big, solid defender. Then there's his cannon right boot.

Beauden, on the other hand, is pushing 30. Not an age when outside backs who mostly rely on their speed are usually coming into their prime.

If it was England I'd say pick Jordie. They'd love him... But NZ are better than that... you need an x-factor.... I'd take Will Jordan, Beaudan, DMac, and even David Havili at fullback for the All Backs before I would let Jordie anywhere near the team. Just my opinion. Flat track bully.

Key ingredient to success = Lineouts success + tackle success + clean breaks

Would say penalty success but the total numbers are too low to be statistically significant.
