When my Dad went onto Oxycontin he rapidly developed severe dementia symptoms. Took a week or two for the symptoms to fade after he was taken off them as well. Made me wonder how many people are in care with dementia due to oxycontin without anyone making the connection.

Sky News have been running a story about the 90 min Covid DNA test all day. It looks like they will plan to build a DNA database of the whole nation by stealth under the guise of Covid19 testing. Can't see them not keeping the data.

I take it you were watching the Covid press conferences each day and was swallowing the rubbish the government has been spouting from the start. I personally think they are full of it and the biggest casualty of this whole affair has been the credibility of our government, both internally and internationally.

I don’t think its used much here. Don't have any stats but purely anecdotally its not a drug I see many people on.

Haven't seen anyone with as much as a sniffle since March. Maybe people with a cold stay in more or with the Covid 19 mask and distancing practices it's not as viral as it usually is.

Fairly surprised, but not surprised, that there has been very little debate about the fact that most of the areas being locked down in the UK have a large Asian population. There are quite a few reasons for why this should be but no one seems to want to talk about it.

It doesn't seem true across the board (as you noted), Manchester for example was primarily white people and there were some public reminders that hey guys this affects everyone, not just BAME

Manchester is overwhelmingly white so you would expect that wouldn't you?

Stats with no context are pretty meaningless, for example, could it be that the Asian community have a greater sense of family and therefore have been less stringent in their social distancing practices, a single superspreader could cause carnage in that type of situation. Were there any Asian focused events that could have caused greater gatherings of Asian people allowing the virus to spread easier? Simple stats like that are meat and drink for Trumpanzees and their ilk, gives them an easy excuse to practice their particular form of politics.

I'm not necessarily saying we on NPR need to talk about it more, I'm not sure we are going to make a difference. But when there is an obvious issue it is ludicrous that the government and other agencies are being largely silent on it. The one MP that raised it, in a pretty clumsy way to be fair, was shouted down as racist. Boris pulls back in some areas, accused of targetting Eid.

It needs to be talked about to educate and assist these communites, the wider population and, frankly, to nip in the bud any easy narrative for the real racists - there are many factors why this is happening larger households, many working in front line positions, many working in shite environments, many not getting the information and some just not giving a shit.
