And then two (less clear) penalties to Naki and they take the 3 points for a 28 - 10 lead instead of 25-15

The Bay have come out strong in the second half. 3 quick tries (including a penalty try with no yellow card) has them leading 34-33.
Ironically, it is the same score in the other game with the other Bay leading Counties by the same score

Great win by BoP! I only caught the second half but it was the best half as a bay supporter lol. Now looking forward to Aucks vs Cantabs... Imagine if the red and blacks got demoted It would kinda mirror the ABs i guess

Have Auckland rested players? TAB still has Canterbury as massive favourites.
Stinking hot day here in ChCh too

It's time for Canterbury to restore some sense of normality to the season. Off to find a link.

EDIT: Six minutes in and waiting for Canty to kick into gear.
It could be a long afternoon

how long before ireland try to cap the Jagemeister?
Isn't he Dutch?
He is a man with options. Googling him shows he was born in England, raised in Ireland, has Dutch heritage and (presumably by now) would be NZ qualified through residency.

Why did Thorne replace Drummond?

Bugger.
This feels appropriate.

He wants to be really sure that the drop in performance every other time he has subbed Drummond wasn’t just a coincidence. That’s the only reason I can think of. It is paint by numbers coaching.

Drummond's sitting on the sideline with a big icepack on his calf.

We both automatically assumed the worst from Thorne

Perfectly understandable, I assumed the same at first, too.

That’s a relief.
It will be interesting to see what if anything happens with the coaching team for next year. Other than the Tasman game it was a season where we never got going.

Will beating the #1 and #2 teams in the last two rounds and staying up mean Thorne remains our coach?

Are there better options?
On one hand we were close in a number of games (did we lose three by a point?) but on the other we were a golden point win against Wellington from going down. My pick is that they will give him another year.
That said, the way things are going Thorne is just as likely to pop up on the AB coaching panel with his record.

Maybe he just needed a full season to settle in. I'll still support Canterbury next year even if he is still the coach.

Absolutely, I will support them (and the AB’s for that matter) no matter who is coach. Hopefully you are right and the last two games were turning the corner and it can continue next year.
