Currently 34C outside and sweltering. However, have just taken delivery of a portable air con unit which is pumping cold air around the living room and reducing the internal temperature at a rate of knots. Lovely.

Bought a cheap indoor/outdoor temperature display thing. Tells me that it's 29 outside, 31 in my sitting room.
Just got home and opened windows, so hopefully it drops a bit. 🙄

Sat in the living room drinking Cremant de Loire with the electric fan going, watching Bettany Hughes' enormous boobs tell us about ancient Greece.

I would kill for 19 degrees at the moment - right now I'm not quite sure how I might actually sleep tonight

The local forecast is teasing rain and thunder at around 10% tomorrow, but Wednesday looks a near certainty. But I don't recall any UK forecast ever showing rain and 23 degrees before.

Amazing storm happening somewhere off to the south of me at the moment (Southport). Non stop lightning.

Otherwise a comfortable 19 degrees here

That was the worst night of sleep I've had in a loooonnggggg time. Temperate in the flat didn't get below 28°. Fan helped, but it's very noisy, and then one of my smoke alarms decided to blast a quick noise at 4am.

Bit of haze early this morning has burnt off and endless blue skies with the sun screaming down. Gorgeous for sitting around doing nothing. I'll be enjoying the AC in work. Blinds all down and windows cracked at home, we'l see this evening how effective that was.

In spite of no room being below 26 °C overnight, slept very well though.

Rain this morning, didn't help. No breeze at all outside so air just not circulating in the night and first thing and now heating very quickly with the moisture from the rain making it even more humid.

The thermocouple is stuck out the window in direct sunshine. Pretty intense out!

32, I think. You're supposed to put thermometers in the shade to prevent exactly that, but this has been sitting in uninterrupted sunshine since like 8am.
Dropped to "only" 33 now that the sun has gone around the house.

Just shows strong sunlight is. I was a sweaty mess after a gentle 25 minute walk home from work.

Thunderstorm warning for tonight. Christ, I hope it happens.

Temperature scarcely dropping here, still nearly 35 °C. There were some promising looking thunderstorms over western France but don't seem to be heading our way.

By opening specific windows and creating flow I got the bedroom down to 19deg last night shut bedroom window but kept spare open. Woke up a 4am it was back to 24 because of us and the retained heat from the day. Tonight is going to be worse as it's forecast to be 5deg hotter a bedtime tonight compared to last night.
