Koch seemed very petulant (training in the heat scene), not sure if he was serious. Schalk Brits looked class.

The part where he told them to settle for the bonus point loss, and then starts screaming down the microphone "did they get my message!!!"boere wors wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 12:57 pm
Watched it too yesterday on that YouTube Channel. Great documentary. Those bits and interviews with Eben also caught my attention, he seems to be a really nice guy. Never heard him speak before i think.
Other than that it was great to see the psychological built up to the RWC, beginning with Wellington 2018. It all went exactly according to Rassies plan, it is great to see and hear his thoughts on that in hindsight.
Herschels story is fantastic, what bok debut he had. Best part was Eben: "why didnt you score under the posts??"
Great stuff, looking forward to ep. 3.
Rassie didnt look healthy though, hope he is better by now.
Nah, Koch was joking. I laughed out loud.
And Rassie saying that the players decided : fcuk you Rassie, we're going for the win.assfly wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 2:06 pmThe part where he told them to settle for the bonus point loss, and then starts screaming down the microphone "did they get my message!!!"boere wors wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 12:57 pm

Another player that caught my eye was Kolisi. I've always been quite critical of him as a captain as he comes across as very shy in front of cameras and on the field, but I've seen another dimension to him in this show, where he really comes across as the leader in the changerooms and training field.
Yeah that was so nice, Brits is ace! Also Frans after the game congratulating him...
That sums him up completely. I never felt that confident going into the world cup as I felt he left some of our best (in my opinion) players at home. I didn't see the point in selecting Brits in the squad until you start to see the effect he has on the team off the field.boere wors wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 8:23 am Rassie: "You dont need the best people for the job. Humble pie tastes absolutely delicious.
Rassie picked a team full of Stormers. Sards outed as a Province fan.
Its quite different talking to a person that has a plan...and can articulate it.....I still remember how he described his way forward...ticked all his boxes so kudos to him.
Masochism much?assfly wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 7:15 am For anyone interested, Squidge Rugby has just done a 2-part analysis of the "Brighton Miracle", when Japan beat us in 2015.
I highly recommend it. His analysis is like nothing I've ever seen, and serves as example of how thoroughly out-coached we were that day by Eddie Jones.
Suit yourself. But it's very interesting and gives as much insight to Eddie Jones' coaching as it does to how Japan executed his plans.
I watched those as they came out. Painful, but interesting.assfly wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 7:15 am For anyone interested, Squidge Rugby has just done a 2-part analysis of the "Brighton Miracle", when Japan beat us in 2015.

Agreed. It was quite obvious that Jones was basing a gameplan on fast phases. But we made no adjustment all game despite them making their intentions clear from the outset.Blake wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 10:04 am I watched those as they came out. Painful, but interesting.
It just shows how Meyer was out of his depth. The game evolved since his days at the Bulls and couches like Henry and Jones were able to outsmart him and his coaching staff.
Jones knew exactly what to expect from the Boks and prepped for it. Meyer had no idea what Japan was going to do.
We had pensioners playing for the boks at that tournament. We were always going to be destroyed by faster and more dynamic sides. JDV should never have been captain or part of the team. Same as s number of players.assfly wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 10:25 amAgreed. It was quite obvious that Jones was basing a gameplan on fast phases. Do you remember that channels name? I'm looking for ep. 3.
I don't, and looks like it's been pulled. I'll keep looking.boere wors wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 12:04 pm

Ja, the ep 2 is off air. Likewise, if i find a link I will post it here.assfly wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 12:08 pmI don't, and looks like it's been pulled. I'll keep looking.boere wors wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 12:04 pm

Agreed.assfly wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 6:47 am Watching the Champions Cup Final on the weekend, I was struck by how much Finn Russel of Racing 92 reminds me of Willie le Roux. He's an absolute bag of dynamite, and will score or setup a dazzling pass one minute, and make a rookie error in the other. But a team like Racing seem to have built a team structure to compliment him.
I think Willemse can turn into a good fullback. He is a solid lad, can kick out of hand, not shy to run it to the line and a very good defender. It also might take away his approach of trying to create magic with every touch.Blake wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 7:43 amAgreed.assfly wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 6:47 am Watching the Champions Cup Final on the weekend, I was struck by how much Finn Russel of Racing 92 reminds me of Willie le Roux. Willie can be infuriating to watch and has a crazy error count sometimes...but then he sets up the pass to Kolbe that results in the Jantjies score that results in a draw against the All Blacks away.
Or joins the line and set up a pin-point flat pass for a try like no other SA player.
I've always had a preference for a safe, bankable, last-line-of-defense fullback...but the last one we had was Percy.
If I had to choose between an error-prone Willie vs an error-prone Zane Kirchner nor Andries Coetzee, it's a no-brainer.
I have to admit, I'm really worried about our back-ups at 15 because none of Willemse, Bosch or Galant really fill me with much confidence.
Willie has to start against the BIL. I know I'm biased, but the only other person whose name is in the hate is Fassi. But ideally he really needs another season behind him. Good chance they'll be coming up against Stuart Hogg, who is more likely to attack the line than go for up and unders (at least that's what he's been doing for Exeter).Blake wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 7:43 am Agreed.

I'm over the Willemse hype. I've given him enough time to live up to it and he never fails to disappoint.handyman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 7:48 amI think Willemse can turn into a good fullback. I agree with you re Willemse, BUT, he is only 22, he is still learning his craft, so I'm prepared give him another few years. Remember, Willie first played SupeRugby aged 23 and for the Boks his first test was aged 24.Blake wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 8:02 amI'm over the Willemse hype. The difference between him and a player like Willie, is that Willie creates opportunities for his team mates to put another player into space.
Willemse just doesn't do that...he tries to sidestep every single opposition player to make a break himself.
You almost never see him try to put a teammate into space. He is a selfish player and all the hype is based on his achievements at flyhalf where his selfish play reaped rewards at lower levels.
He might eventually live up to his hype at some point in his career, but he is going to drastically change his game and the way he plays.
Fassi was having a very impressive Super Rugby run before the season was cancelled. Definitely my choice for backup should Willie not be available.assfly wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 7:48 amWillie has to start against the BIL. Watch Odendaals run for Jantjies try...watch the last defender...watch how he throws himself onto the floor like a petulant child and has a mini tantrum whilst Odendaal ghosts past him without a hand touching him.....handyman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 7:48 amI think Willemse can turn into a good fullback. Agree that he is still a kid and will mature as a player. I'm looking forward to that.handyman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 8:11 am I agree with you re Willemse, BUT, he is only 22, he is still learning his craft, so I'm prepared give him another few years. Willemse has time on his side, let's hope all the people hyping him are right and that he will come through in the end. Writing players off aged 22 is daft.
Many great defenders have been beaten by a step in a one-on-one situation. It's always frustrating and humiliating when it happens.
