Congratulations Ireland. Looks tall for a 10 but Prendergast did everything right (long range pen. aside).

Deserved winners over the 80' and silly lineout brainfart aside I thought the referee (and team) did well - the right calls, yellows, tmo checks and letting it all flow.

This looks like a great U20 year with Italy showing up.

We weren't particularly one dimensional. Certainly not in the first half when we attacked with pace and skill. Second half was more of a slugfest but even the play to get back into the lead after France took it for the first time was varied.

Also, France hardly left loads of points out there from kicks and the one to take the lead back was a beauty.

I doubt it very much given how off the pace France looked against Italy.

The French whether that be u20 or senior have become very South Africa like at the jackal. Ireland at all levels struggle against it.

Simple question how many times did the ball get passed to the wing. If Prendergast was kicking for France they would have won. It is a great win which was won by our pack and great kicking by Prendergast.

Not sure the relevance of your first sentence. Kicks are missed in games. Getting them effects field position and motivation. Unless it's something like missing a kick to go two scores clear with 5 to go (Sexton :x) you need to really be missing loads and not getting any hard ones for kicking to be a main factor.

I agree that discipline saw you behind but our discipline then saw you in front. It was probably still marginally in our favour by the end but much closer than it was earlier in the game.

There was lots of marginal stuff but it balanced out.

I actually thought he was pretty even but that means he probably favoured us!

The main thrust is that I relish it when it happens against Wales (though I feel we still owe Scotland one for their quick lineout).

You must be joking? Ireland breezed past every own ruck in the first half, and France only got a few scraps in the second half at the cost of couple penalties.

I watched the whole game, we have a dynamic pack with decent halfbacks who passed it nicely between themselves but we did not use the width of the pitch did Nicholson receive 1 pass in open play.
I watched Italy v France and Italian pack is very good, we will need an all court game to beat them.
As usual avoided the questions if French kicker was better who would have won?

In short, no, I'm never stupid enough to just add points on for missed kicks and assume the game would have panned out exactly the same.

Our backline outside 10 are military medium. If and when an oppo pack get on top of us, we are very ref reliant.

Missed kicks don't count in a 2pt win - wow just wow. I guess Stephen jones missed kick in the 09 slam had no affect on the result!

Prendergast got 7/8 kicks the French hit the post twice and missed at least 1 more but according to stats that had no affect on the result!
