World Rugby launches rugby’s first-ever global streaming platform, a key pillar of the sport’s growth mission
RugbyPass TV central to building new audiences and deepening fan engagement, bringing fans closer to the action on and off the field via unrivalled access and exclusive content
Rugby World Cup 2023 provides showcase launch moment with a winning blend of live coverage, archive content and exclusive original programming from documentaries to lifestyle content
RugbyPass TV will ensure fans around the world have access to major competitions; from WXV to HSBC SVNS
World Rugby is excited to announce the launch of RugbyPass TV, a world-class streaming platform created to connect rugby fans across the globe more deeply with the game they love, for free.
The problem with Rugbypass is that they'd prefer to sell the rights to a big broadcaster, who'll then just add it to their package with 4,000 channels of shite I will never watch !
If I want to just want the Rugby, I can't get it because of Geographic restrictions.
Rugby isn't big enough for the rights owner to just sell it direct to consumers & make a profit; they want to resell it, & then maybe pick up a couple of hundred subs in Hungary, or Columbia, where no one wants to re-broadcast.
They've convinced themselves this is the only way, but all they're doing is making it easier for fans to decide to pirate & them earn nothing, rather than giving them an option to pay market price.

Here is a link to an article in Kyodo News introducing the members of the Japan squad for RWC2023.

Did I read a headline that there’s something like 6 sets of brothers in the Chile squad?
4 sets apparently
Alfonso and Diego Escobar,
Matías and Nicolás Garafulic,
Santiago and Benjamín Videla,
and twins Clemente and Domingo Saavedra.
Ta for that
Haven’t watched the video, so apologies if this is covered in it, but are Chile the side with virtually all the players coming from one club? (Edit: just occurred to me that maybe it’s like a district affiliation, rather than a club side?)

Yes, Selknam - a club specifically created for the Chilean high-performance pathway.
Pool B - Scotland v Ireland, but probably all 3 permutations of top 3
Pool C - Fiji v Wales
Pool D - England v Japan
Trying way too hard.
France will murder us. And Italy will be keen to take the scalp when we are down. Battle for second.

Willemse apparently injured Now (could be for the whole World cup).
We are seeing players dropping too much.
What bug me is that Chalureau is scum and could be starting.

I'm more than confident that Wales get out of their group.
Pretty pleased after the warm up trial matches. Pity Gats just used them as a means to an end would have liked to see a near strength team in at least one of the friendly games
That said news from the Wales camp is really positive and the injuries are resolving and some fringe players are stepping up to the mark.
Will be interesting to see how Anscombe is going to be used especially when he switches to full back.
Pretty confident that we will have a shot at another semi final.
Glad that many are writing Wales off.

Might as well post the Irish Squad here. Only change from expected was Healys injury has ruled him out, & Loughman got the call, so the Scots will have to focus their 5 minutes of hate entirely to POM
Ireland 2023 Rugby World Cup squad
Forwards (18):
Ryan Baird, Finlay Bealham,Tadhg Beirne, Jack Conan, Caelan Doris, Tadhg Furlong, Iain Henderson, Rob Herring, Ronan Kelleher, David Kilcoyne, Jeremy Loughman, Joe McCarthy, Peter O'Mahony, Tom O’Toole, Andrew Porter, James Ryan, Dan Sheehan, Josh van der Flier.
Backs (15):
Bundee Aki, Ross Byrne, Craig Casey, Jack Crowley, Keith Earls, Jamison Gibson-Park, Mack Hansen, Robbie Henshaw, Hugo Keenan, James Lowe, Stuart McCloskey, Conor Murray, Jimmy O’Brien, Garry Ringrose, Jonathan Sexton.
My small each way bet is Healy will make it back for later on in the WC

How does that work? Once the squads are selected, you can only change if you lose someone by injury? You gonna do a Quins?

12,000, mainly French fans turn up to watch Ireland.......... train.
More than you'd get for the overwhelming majority of Prem rugby games.

What about the mad convicted racist lad France have playing for them? Any other teams need to take any protective measures?
His teammates like Reda, sekou, Cameron, Jonathan, Gael are the most at risk The Pacific Islanders (like Taofifenua Moefana )have not entered the local Far-right cross hairs yet.
My Main problem is that this was known before he got selected last year.

Seems an unecessary target to put on your teams back
Indeed it's not like he hasn't been fired from Toulouse at the time of his agression.

Surprised they selected Chalureau tbh. He sounds like an unrepentant carnt.
