Got an Echo dot. Basically I became too lazy to push the button to turn the radio on, so now I can just shout at it.
Working in IT, & specifically Automation I've been trying to decide what I wanted to play with ... & then Google threw this one at me ...
I didn't want to get trapped into an, 'Ecosystem', i.e. have corporate scumbags, or the Chinese, knowing every time I took a dump; & this video was great for teaching me how many branded gadgets could be re-flashed with tasmota, & still work just as well, but with no more phoning home
I love Open Source
Fascinating stuff. Luckily I paid for my son to do a degree in IT and he's now an IT Support Manager - so, whilst I'm not completely IT illiterate, I have no need to understand what that is all about. That would definitely come under a task that I'd be delegating.
Sadly people continually underestimate themselves; & decide that they; "can't do maths"; of "I don't understand computers".
The reality is they just have decided they can't; instead of sitting themselves in front of the right teacher
One of the community activities my former employer used to do; & I thought was a really great idea was; run evening classes for older people; & introduce them to wonder that was the Internet; & then use that as a gateway drug to computers in general.
If you sit a bloke who was a carpenter in front of a few youtube videos of the best way to do consistent mitre joints; & then point him to carpenters forum; or do the same for a woman who prides herself on her quiche crust .... you introduce people who have a massive amount of interest & enthusiasm, into a brave new world.
It's the same idea as Men's Sheds etc; you allow people to come together, & share their knowledge, common love for a subject. You make them realize that they can still contribute, regardless of their age; in fact, their age is an asset.
It's great seeing someone after a lifetimes work, showing a teenager how to use a lathe

Oh, I have little doubt that I could do most of it. I'm equally confident that I neither want to, or need to. Much like I learnt how to make websites long before we had programmes to do it for us - because I needed some for projects I was running. Hence, my cricket club was one of the very first to have its' own web site. Had we had the modern tools available, to do it for me, I wouldn't have needed to waste so much time on it.
But I can see how it might be very satisfying for someone who enjoys that particular sort of challenge - much as I have found learning to play guitar very satisfying, despite finding it very challenging (I didn't start until I was 59).

If you want to learn more about "docking" speak to OS.
As an aside, love playing with rasberry Pi's they are so versatile. Made myself a smart mirror using one that linked up to Alexa, was great fun.
Here is one of many tutorials

I can't wait to have the time to go to the Men's Shed.
Tamiya Top Force. Now to spend a shit load on hop ups and electrics.
That. Is. Cool.
Getting harder to find "New In Box', too, so I was very impressed with the seller who, after two of my eBay attempts to purchase failing, did it directly with me and knocked a tenner off, too.
I bought a new in box Frog around 10 years ago when they re-released. We'd had one as kids. It keep ripping front wheels off, and the replacement parts didn't seem up to it either. You'd hope they could take a few knocks. Seems they may not be made like they used to be.

When Saint gets his 3D printer, you need to get him to knock you out a new front sub-frame

I have never liked the Frog, but it's beloved of most Tamiya enthusiasts.
I fancied some mentalism in my life so have pre-ordered the Thunder Dragon, due for re-release in May.

The Frog is so ugly, it's fantastic. One of the most iconic R/C cars.

One of my school friends runs a highly rated butchers and does stuff that damages both my bank balance and my waistline. Curiously he's written a number of books on the subject with Phil Vickery https://theweekbookshop.co.uk/products/ ... imon-boddy
Just not that Phil Vickery. And until Simon told me, I didn't know there was another one!

Thinking splashing on some Jamon iberico. Is it worth the money? Can't see how different ham could taste tbh.

Just do it and make sure it's Pata Negra. You won't regret it.

I'd like to sit down like Obelix with a skin of wine and the whole leg of Jamon.

Yup. Have a couple of bottles of Tio Pepe but sitting in front of the log burner is not quite the same thing!

First time I had it was after a Scotland rugby match at Murrayfield. My mate knew Norrie Rowan, ex Scotland prop, and we ended up sinking a few beers afterwards in Murrayfield Wanderers rugby club after the match. I think Norrie had just come back from Spain, he pulled a packet of the stuff out of his pocket, ripped it open with his teeth and shared it out. Ended up eating it with my fingers with a pint of Best. Still tasted good.

Manzanilla is a form of fino and is meant, like most whites, to be served chilled. The trouble is, it is often served at room temp so no wonder many people try it once and never venture back.

Either to be honest though I really like Manzanilla en Rama
Roll on May and I can get up to Barrafina or Copita in Soho or Pizzaro in Bermondsey. I will over-indulge
