Rassie is on video analysis this week.Sandstorm wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 8:17 pm Wiese MOTM? You Klingons are easily pleased. He went up against a Puma team barely interested. AB will man-shame him, Pollsmoor style.
The best Boks were Etsebeth (yet again), Fassi (I admit I’m a new fan) and Fat Frans. Lood also quality.
Agree it’s nice to see no sign of Rassie in PE. Nienaber did fine on his own.

“Although Aphelele trains at fullback, he is currently playing wing for us, which has a similar skill set to 15. We have just taken the decision-making role a little bit away from him. It’s not that he makes bad decisions, but it’s about getting him into the mix, allowing him to get used to the game, the physicality.
“He is taking it on. I love the attitude that he shows. I believe he will play many Test matches for South Africa at 15. He is a quality player and there is a bright future for him.”
Nienaber about Fassi

I read today that he has been part of SARUs development program from school. The success story they want to sell. I think that explains his salary and position in the team.sorCrer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:47 pm Wynona Louw clearly finished all her stock during the game and has dipped into the paint thinners:
Damian Willemse 7: Put in some good kicks and his chase was on point as well. Had a good game in his starting berth at fullback.

He's now one of the ATG number 9s. More so because he's showing his brilliance in an AB team that is a good one but nowhere near the standard of the world cup winning ones. Hard to think of a better scrumhalf in the pro era. Maybe Fourie du Preez imo.
Yep, he's a sensational talent, and he's been incredibly consistent over a test career spanning nigh on a decade. It's easy to see why Hansen selected him in 2012 as the player to build his new team and game plan around.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 7:29 amHe's now one of the ATG number 9s. I'm still not sure what to make of Papalii. He does so much right, covering acres of ground at a good clip and making tons of tackles. BUT...he missed two important tackles in the first half. Koroibete waltzed right past him and deep into our 22 in the lead-up to Kellaway's early try, then he missed McDermott under our posts right on half time - had him covered but barely laid a finger on him.
Those were tackles an All Blacks openside should not miss.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I was hoping for a lot more from him.Gumboot wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 9:17 am I'm still not sure what to make of Papalii. I'm a fan of Sam Cane but not sure if he's worth investing more games in. Broken neck, concussions and so on. He puts his body on the line just like Schalk Burger did and is getting similar injuries to Schalk. Hats off to him if he can come back and cement his place in the team.
Well, he had a pretty good last season. But more importantly he’s still the All black captain. Although he didn’t do too great as captain. Many of us saying it was the wrong Sam last year. Foster picked the captain straight after the World Cup. Whitelock was expected to be unavailable (but COVID happened), and Fozzie had already decided.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:53 pmI'm a fan of Sam Cane but not sure if he's worth investing more games in. Now it’s looking pretty natural for Sam W in this spot, and looks to be owning the responsibility. So it’s going to lead to awkward decisions.
I was pretty happy with the performance. It was a good Argentina side, but we never gave them an inch.
Good game from Reinarch. Excellent kicking from him and great try.
Outstanding from Fassi, that kid needs to see more ball. Let's hope he gets a run at 15 soon.
Absolute shocker from Willemse. Can we finally accept he's not a fullback? Give him a run at 12 were his inability to pass will be less noticed.
Midfield did their jobs but not that impressed. DdA and Am a hard act to follow.
Glad Weise finally put in the performance we've been waiting for. Although still keen to see Dan du Preez have run too.

Doesn't cut it at 10......absolutely no confidence in him there...Absolute shocker from Willemse. Can we finally accept he's not a fullback? Give him a run at 12 were his inability to pass will be less noticed.

Untested at 12.............
How can this kid have a RWC winners medal , BILs Winners medal....when he is cover for all those positions....Management should tell him to be satisfied with his medals and go play 12 for WP......
If I can accept Bosch didn't work out so should WP supporters re Willemse.....look....I understand that SARU have a vested interest in him as they are covering half his salary....and probably want a return....but he has got enough Freebees now and can just vokkof.

I don't think there's much chance of Cane losing the captaincy while Foster's coach, unless he's perma-crocked. And that's as it should be, imho. He played magnificently last year, leading from the front in every test. The team itself mostly underperformed, but imagine him back in charge of this year's model. Yes, please.

Look like onle me and Oom Enz as MooLoo supporters like Foster.
He have done nothing wrong so far. Unlike Rassie.

Agreed. He has a chance soon to test his team against the number 1 ranked team, the 3 time and current RWC champions, slayer of the BIL's on consecutive occasions and current Rugby Championship champions.
Springboks, Stormers and WP supporter.
Plus he can pop down the road and speak direct to the Kiwi refs for 62 minutes. Much easier for him.

The bench is 6/2
Frans Steyn would have been a better replacement for Willemse.

He is probably just trolling. Expecting a youngster to play in the centers in an international after he last played in that position against school kids is just too dumb for it to not be trollingOomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 1:21 pmYou are so vokken one eyed. Last time I reply to your kak.

Fassi is a natural athlete. The only backline position he wouldn't excel at given the chance is scrumhalf. Imagine bending from his height. I have had my say and now am done..Big Nipper wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 1:29 pmHe is probably just trolling. As much as I wanted a younger Frans to get more opportunities I think this older version should let the youngsters get a chance
