The Official, one and only, Men's IRB Rugby World Cup 2023 thread
For all we hear about the 6N having a responsibility to admit Georgia to grow the game there has been a real lack of progression in the African countries out with SA.
Italy are doing nothing special. Namibia are not good and will be whipping boys here.

Grass is to green for Suid Westers.
Italy are struggling with Nam's outside in rush defence and the pressure Nam backrows are putting on the breakdown. Italy were totally closed out of that second quarter. Nam have a backline that can score Rossouw/Deysel/Greyling/Swanepoel have all played a lot of provincial rugby in SA, should've got a bit more out of that half, they looked a bit nervous when they were shifting the ball. AC has them playing Stomp rugby, pressure on defence/quality backrows/spread ball wide.
Someone needs to tell the female commentator how to pronounce Afrikaans names. Sounds like she's trying to put an Afrikaans "g" sound into Van Jaarsveld, and is getting Rossouw totally wrong which she has given a oo sound like in zoo. Not knowing how to pronounce names and making it up, is an Aussie level approach to commentary.

She’s said “gone awry…” about 30 times already.
Yes, pretty impressed with them.
Can any of the Saffers give us a bit of background on them? If they had some decent WR funding what’s the chances of them becoming a force?
I’ll be out there in November, really looking forward to it

I heard Coetzee say that some of them have had to quit their jobs to play in this world cup
Must be a few Namibians, or Namibian qualified players in the SA systemsturginho wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 12:23 pmI heard Coetzee say that some of them have had to quit their jobs to play in this world cup

There must be some sort of secret competition to see who can butcher a national anthem in the most dreadful manner possible.
Although whatever they do to the dreadful dirge that is God Save The King, it can only improve it.

We could save the world if we can find a way to recycle the amount of waste Italy are generating today
