I've taken it up with my son. Been indoors so far because of winter but going to the clubs outdoor course at the weekend. Looks amazing, 22 ranges within woodland, shooting at targets and pretend animals!

This is an object lesson in why consolidating ever more flights into LH is just asking for trouble.
You know this has nothing to do with any building work or expansion plans, right?fishfoodie wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 11:38 amMaybe they should focus on keeping the existing runways operational before they go adding anymore ?SaintK wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:56 am I hope nobody here is thinking of using Heathrow for the forseeable future!https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cly24zvvwxlt“Today’s total closure of London-Heathrow will affect at least 1,351 flights to/from LHR,” the flight tracker said in a post on Bluesky, “That doesn’t include any flights that might be canceled or delayed due to aircraft being out of position.”

I'm not suggesting they are; just that maybe they should focus first on making their existing operation more robust, like laying on a 2nd power supply, so that even if one goes, at least they can keep a couple of terminals operational, rather than just having enough backup power to run ATC & little else.Sandstorm wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 1:12 pmYou know this has nothing to do with any building work or expansion plans, right?fishfoodie wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 11:38 amMaybe they should focus on keeping the existing runways operational before they go adding anymore ?SaintK wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:56 am I hope nobody here is thinking of using Heathrow for the forseeable future!

The runways are all still operational, there's just no power to the airport. It'll be fixed later today.

He loves his compound at the moment, cos it looks cool. But he’s absolutely loving it and became Scottish champion in his age group a few weeks ago - he’s 8.mat the expat wrote: Mon Mar 24, 2025 1:25 amI just did 1200kms in 2 days to help setup a new club in Kyudo (Japanese archery)Slick wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:59 amI've taken it up with my son. Thankfully no. I have the usual suspects that are always late payers, but haven't seen any significant increase. I'm probably not the best use case though, as for the most part I get payment (or partial) up front. I lose a few clients thanks to this policy, but I figure these are wasters anyway that I would spend a whole bunch of time chasing and often enough not get paid at all, so I've been much happier and sleep better since I brought it in a few years ago.Slick wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 10:05 am Sorry Biffer, going to lower the fun quotient.
Does anyone else here run their own business? If so, have you noticed a massive increase in late payment of invoices? It has been insane over the last few months and absolutely killing me. I've spoken to a few people and they are all saying the same.
Mine are a mix of multinationals, universities, SME's, all fucking late and all small amounts ( mostly under £1k).PornDog wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 10:14 amThankfully no. I generally deal with small businesses, so not huge amounts but had been wasting a lot of time with dickheads essentially looking to get work done for free. The amount of times I heard "you can trust me", "I'm as honest as they come" and so on. Each and every one of them that said things like that was a cunt!
Oweing me money though seems to be very bad for the health of people's grandparents. So many of my debtors have had them up and die on them right at the same time as they are late for payment. So you'd better pay me or else I'll kill your elderly family members!!
Yeah that fucking sucks - there's literally no excuse for that. It's not like they don't have the cashflow to cover your invoice.Slick wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 10:23 amMine are a mix of multinationals, universities, SME's, all fucking late and all small amounts ( mostly under £1k).PornDog wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 10:14 amThankfully no. UK Government has zero qualms about charging you interest on late payments for council tax or business rates bills! Private sector have that option open to them too, but we haven't used it yet in our business (yet)PornDog wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 10:34 am
Whats the law like in the UK on late payments? I did look at it briefly here when I was dealing with this shit before I brought in my new payments policy, so didn't go too deep into it, but if they go beyond 30 days you are legally allowed to charge them interest. It's a statutory right. Not sure how often it gets implemented by companies, but its existence probably helps to keep a leash on some of the late payers.
Yeah, it's a tricky one as I also can't afford to lose the business so it's difficult to know how far to push it. Although I lost my shit with a well known company this morning who are 6 weeks late already and just told me they have fucked up the onboarding process and so have to start again which will take at least 2 weeks. I've been telling them for a month they have fucked up the onboarding process.Sandstorm wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 11:08 amUK Government has zero qualms about charging you interest on late payments for council tax or business rates bills! I’m a bit worried that his early success will knock him when he’s not winning but I think getting outdoors will keep the interest going
Yeah, I have heard good and bad but more generally good. The details of the vehicle basically go out to auction so you have more interest than the likes of We Buy any car. Your basic problem is you are relying on the buyer not noticing the clutch issue when you hand it over.Slick wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 4:10 pm Has anyone ever used the Motorway app to sell a car? I literally know nothing about buying and selling cars, I have always just seemed to inherit them and not particularly bothered as long as it gets me around. However, as detailed elsewhere, the current one is a pain in the hole and no one seems to be able to diagnose or fix the clutch issues - it also seems that it is very common with the car - Hyundai.
Anyway, going to sell it or trade it in and get a new/2nd hand one. Any advice greatly appreciated.
If we bleed the clutch we get 3 weeks or so of it working fine, so they can drive away with it.... I actually spoke to the mechanic this morning who told me to do that, and I said I'd feel a bit bad, he basically laughed in my face and said it's a game and they wouldn't think twice so just to get on with it.Blackmac wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 12:13 pmYeah, I have heard good and bad but more generally good. On that note I have also heard that the inspector for We Buy any car, who operates out of the car park at Dobbies Garden Centre, is an absolute clown and fails to notice many undisclosed defects.

None quite so hot as her, but yes - one of the few perks left in an office
When a planeload of Pakistani orphans are shipped to his state for permanent relocation, the governor of Idaho (Beau Bridges, who won an Emmy) defies the president (Phil Hartman) and closes the state's border. News Net Television, a cable news program that makes hay by reporting on political scandals, quickly spins the racist act into an overnight media sensation, creating a divide in national opinion over the issue.

Whilst this is obviously bollocks and she seems a very, very odd individual, the bus drivers account is actually quite shocking and if I was his boss I would definitely sack him given the account he has given which he seems quite proud off.
Bus load of 29 kids and he goes to overtake a car "travelling slowly just under 75kph" and then is so close to it he is unable to avoid a collision as it makes a right turn without indicating. Fuck him.
Munns told MailOnline he had been driving at 75km/h, with 29 children on board, and travelling behind a car for about 3km when it allegedly slowed and turned off the road without indicating.
Munn said the bus clipped the vehicle as he attempted to pass it.
This validates Giuffre’s claims the bus was full of children at the time of the crash, which WA Police Commissioner Kylie Whiteley previously told 7NEWS.com.au she was “not aware of”.
Munns told the outlet he checked on the 71-year-old driver, who told him that she was a carer, and said she had not been injured.
“It’s just all blown out of proportion and I know what happened, I didn’t even see (Giuffre) in the car,” Munns told MailOnline.
Munns said he and the driver exchanged numbers and — despite only needing to report accidents involving damage greater than $2000 to police, which he didn’t believe there was — he reported the incident the next day because of the bizarre circumstances.
Munns claims this is when the driver phoned him and mentioned there had been another person in the car who sustained a black eye.
