I disagree. This is a poor English side. How many will make the Lions tour next year? 6? 7?
Who gives a fuck how many make the Lions squad!!!
It will be mainly Irish and Scottish players according to the Irish and Scots anyway.
I just want to see improvement and the coaches getting the best out of the players selected. The coaches are patently not doing that.
I don't think the Scots on here are expecting all that many. Certainly confident about some; Russell, Tuipulotu and one or two others making the squad but that aside I haven't seen any of our posters claiming we'll have more than England in the squad. I don't think we will to be fair.
That's fair enough I haven't either and I wouldn't have an issue if there were aat the moment.
I'm not going to check but I think you'll find on the Scotland thread there are a series of posts outlining the number of Lions starters, the number of squad members and the number of bolters that could be selected. I think it added up to at least a dozen.

True - I forgot about Feyi-Waboso, an excellent player but he is much more a mazy one off runner who can make breaks with ball in hand rather than adding creativity to the back line. Sleightholme is ok with ball in hand.
Sleightholme is much better than okay, and he was a real danger every time he got the ball against SA. It's almost comical how our best moments were just him and Smith riffing

If Borthwick is smart enough to keep him in the side, he will score a bucket load of tries.

But I see where you are coming from if you're talking creativity as in manufacturing breaks for others.

A dozen would still be less than England had last time to be fair. And there shouldn't be 14 Welsh involved.

I'd expect a list like that to add to about 10-12 on a national thread. Bolters are outside bets and noone would expect all bolters to make it.

I reckon there'll be a similar number of Scots +/-2 from 2021.

Sorry don't want to derail the thread.

Since we seem to be relying on backs doing random magic than having any semblance of a proper attack, that we spurned the opportunity to field an all Saints back three in order to bring Steward back is just another black mark to add to Borthwick's selectorial card.

For South Africa's disallowed try - can someone who did better at Physics than scraping a Higher help here?

Fassi is running forward at say 20mph, so when the ball comes out of his hands it does so with relative velocity of 20mph?

Fassi then keeps running forward at the same speed and the ball is behind him when it is caught. Does that not demonstrate that he has imparted some kind of force in a backwards direction (relative to the goal line) to the ball as its relative velocity is less than his speed?

Incidentally, wasn't there supposed to be smart ball technology that was going to solve this issue of judging whether the ball was going forward out of the hands?

That was no forward pass. It was a great try but Saffers don't bitch about it. We accept the decision and move on.

The ball isn't thrown directly towards the try line. The vector is different.

Disappointed in Fassi. He didn’t get involved enough, Willie is a much better play maker.

Bit of a stretch to be calling Rassie narrow

Was a quiet outing for me too.....but I did notice that they didn't kick onto him preferring to kick onto Kolbe and KLA.....which makes sense. The one time they kicked onto Fassi he lost it. So definitely not his best outing......but we can say that about 1 to 23
He did create a great try tho and another was dissalowed for a questionable forward pass.

I gave him a 5.

My two cents worth on England.

You're not going anywhere with Borthwick as head coach.
This whole period stinks of the Johnson and Robinson days.
Every day he is in charge is a wasted day. Just end it now.
