So if the overall benefit was positive but there was a net benefit to a Tory as part of the process then it's a bad deal?!
Jesus wept, is easy to see now how Blair got PFI past these idiots.

PFI came into being with Major iirc, and you are once again stating that the things New Labour got wrong were their alignment with right wing or free-market economics.
I agree with you on that.

There are always issues in any timeframe. No point in panicking about it. Are today’s worse than the war? Worse than Cuban missile crisis? Worse than miner strikes, blackouts, bailouts, defaults, double digit interest rates, etc etc?

My problems with that is that it gives the current government a free pass, and all the bungs and corruption and enrichment of friends and bought acquaintances, all at the expense of everyone who lives in the UK

With Wendy post on this thread you reveal your ignorance.
Major's government did indeed invent PFI then promptly buried it during their term as it offered such poor value for the taxpayer. This is basic knowledged FFS.

The basic knowledge FFs is available on Wikipedia
It, PFI, was initiated in 92 and as the quote says "expanded considerably in 96" the year before Labour took office, but I still agree with you that this right wing initiative to take public spending off the books was wrong

If I thought everything was tickety boo then why TF would I want change?
Because you hate the Tories.
Well, I do, but if I thought that
Health, Education, infrastructure, (it's late, I'm struggling) and everything else was being looked after and that people were genuinely being taken care of when they needed it, would I seek change?
Yes, I'd want these things to be better done for, but I also know that it's very difficult to do it, but these things should not be for the enrichment of friends of those who award the contracts/ provision
Come on, when has anyone EVER been satisfied with those components of any government, and where it’s not in the needs improving camp.

Because Brexit & Trucker shortages are causing shortages of the chemicals to treat waste water; the Tories gave the water companies carte blanche to dump as much raw sewage into the UKs waterways as they like.

I think it would be more accurate to say he used to be a Tory.
Coleshill was originally elected to Enfield Council in 2018 as a Conservative, but was suspended from the party a few months later when he was accused of making racist remarks in a council meeting; he had asked whether the Turkish family of a Labour councillor had “brought a classroom with them”.
He remained on the Council as an independent until June this year, when he was kicked off the Council for failing to attend any meetings for over 6 months. A by-election was held to replace him in July.
So he was only actually a Tory for a few months in 2018. It also seems pretty clear he’s now a bona fide loon and ‘lockdown sceptic’. In November last year he was charged with breaching lockdown restrictions after attending a public gathering in Hyde Park. He entered a ‘not guilty’ plea in court but the case was later dismissed and a fixed penalty notice issued instead.

Yeah uh the problem of MPs being accosted isn't limited to people from other parties; you're just as likely to get harangued by people who are supposed to be on 'your' team. The Tories have courted the lunatics for a while so always risk this, and Labour has plenty of fringe weirdos and the momentum types to take aim at their own MPs.

I dunno, seems like a timely reminder for them that there was once an age of bloody revoltion where the people would rise against those in power actively working against the people's best interest.
They should thank their lucky stars that we apparently no longer live in such a time.

Indeed, after the events of last Friday I think MPs are all too aware that there are some people in society who want to kill them, so I am not sure that they really needed another 'timely reminder'.
