1. Why we lurked and never posted? - Must have lurked on and off since the 2003 World Cup I think. I'd occasionally post - but I didn't have the time to get involved in day long discussions/arguments so it was much easier to dip in every few days, see what was the current outrage and then go back to the real world.

2. Do we miss PR? - Yes. I've learnt a lot of odd stuff and been completely taken aback at how much effort some people will put into being complete wankers. Threads like the Sean O'Brien / Pascal Pape one were brilliant back in the day for sheer idiocy.

3. What can PR hope to achieve by locking down? I presume that they are trying to close it down / monetise it in some way. It was a free service that has run for decades now and seems to exist only to provide oxygen to extremely odd characters.

We are not optimised for google search, not top of my list of things to do, there is no ambition to monetise this place, there will be no ads, not ever (unless Porn Hub come in with a big money offer of course). Quality over quantity

I know - but it must also make NPR less visible to bot farms.

I see the word "happy". Does not compute in the Bimboman family.

Once you know which posters are smart, and which ones are dumb, you have a better idea of what to think about certain things. PR was great for the range of opinons it offered, from smart to dumb, honest to dishonest. Was always worth checking out if something happened. It was worth going there just for Ali's Choice's take on things, pretty much everything he predicted came true.

The shame was losing all the smart posters, like Southern Softie, Seneca, Psychologist, hermes_trismegistus and the like, but keeping Dozy and that foetal alcohol syndrome Irishman whose name escapes me.

Just the life cycle of empires I suppose.

Assume you're being sarcastic, but anyway he's still there. No need to put him in the past tense, he hasn't left or died or anything.

I thought for a moment this might be him, but I don't think it is, so pointless post from me.

AC is good people who 90% of the time is superb at just being the right side of the line with the trolling and pisstaking. He has his persona and stuck to it. Definitely someone I'd happily have a drink with.
