Huh? Strange comment. The ABs came back from 17-3 down at halftime to beat the Wallabies 23-20 in Dunedin. The Boks lost 35-20 in Auckland after trailing 20-3 at halftime. I'm a bit confused. Are you excusing the Saffer lack of "character" simply because that terrible performance was in NZ?

I think what oom is trying to say is that Boks also show character to come back after being utterly outplayed by the AB's in the first 20-30 min of that test match. They still lost the match handsomely.

There's some truth to this. I think the ABs rarely find themselves staring at a big deficit without suffering some sort of colossal disintegration that would prevent them from scrapping it out and clawing their way back in. Which isn't a criticism.

Oupa, this is exactly what I mean with the pundits. The try was reviewed and disallowed. Scot Barrett got a second yellow because he committed a reckless act. The AB's team played negative rugby due to constant pressure and it contributed massively to the stop start nature of the game. That's it, nothing more to see here, bad day at the office that's all. We know they will bounce back and be better for it.

100% this. If that try had been allowed and Scott Barrett hadn't lost his head, a comeback would've been on the cards.
But it just wasn't their night and the rugby ball's bounce didn't favour them.

I doubt we'll see the All Blacks that bad again anytime soon.

We had the Marx, Bongi and Kwagga tries from mauls which makes sense given NZ were are forward short, but I can't help thinking there were more opportunities out wide as well that we didn't exploit. That being said, NZ's defense was outstanding.

Manie had a decent outing and a great kicking perfromance.

Hopefully it will be the confidence boost he needs. He'll aways make me nervous when he lines up for a critical kick, because you never know which Manie you are going to get on the day, but Willie le Roux also used to be like that and he's matured into a much more reliable player. Hopefully Manie's career follows a similar trajectory.

As I have said, SA were very, very good... but little things went wrong for NZ.. like that missed easy kick and Lomax having his leg sliced open... and these little things along with sustained SAn pressure added to a perfect storm... plus it was a friendly... and you aint gonna put your body on the line in a losing cause in a friendly two weeks before the World Cup...

Is Parsons involved in coaching at all? Feels like he should be. They both offer good insight because a lot of their knowledge comes from talking with players/coaches rather than getting their info from journalists as the Breakdown mob seem to...

It's very good. I listen to it every week. Andy Goode is excellent, but Jim Hamilton is the star and very funny.

The host Andy Rowe is normally more back seat. He's also got another pod he does on his own, The Andy Rowe Show.
