Something that would be quite cool to have, and is very expensive when you see them online, is one of the original Adidas rugby balls that France used in the 5N, the ones with the black tips on the ends.

This is at least partly because black is so slimming thoughLine6 HXFX wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:15 pm I was fascinated by the physicality of New Zealanders. None looked like they were gym monkeys, compared to the Irish. They all looked lithe. Slender... quick...even their forwards (back row) didn't look massive. Yet they were stopping men who looked like they could blow them over.
Must be psychologically insulting to be massive, thinking you are going to monster your skinny looking opposite number..and have him constantly stop you on the gain line.
They are Bugatti Vernon's dressed up like mini metros.
I said on Thursday he’s a liability for Ireland. And the Lions.Biffer wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:15 pm Hopefully it's now going to be acknowledged that Porter continually scrummages illegally and he'll continue to be called for it.

Yep, the matching sleeves and hosiery is no coincidence. He is my all-time favourite rugby player that isn't called Iain Milne.
In Gorgie? Wee small world.
Aside from his usual prickishness during the game, he was giving Reiko Ioane an extended spray after the final whistle.Ymx wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:28 pmWhat did he do, specifically?? Me?
Aye, back in the day when Bill Farmer was the bar manager (1981???).Tichtheid wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:41 pm
You worked in the Diggers?
I had a girlfriend who lived on Angle Park Terrace.
She broke my heart but I still liked a pint of heavy in the Diggers, best beer in Edinburgh at the time
Also agree that it was the best pint in Edinburgh back in the 90’s
I am very, very jealous.Slick wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:16 pmI’ve got one signed by SellaTichtheid wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:14 pmTorquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:10 pm

It was '83 to '85 that I went there regularly, I haven't been back for a while now.bogbunny wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:47 pmAye, back in the day when Bill Farmer was the bar manager (1981???).Tichtheid wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:41 pm

... we have 12 McLashan font pumps to serve 80 shillings (heavy) , 1 for mild, 1 for lager... (thats for women, poofs and English)
Yes I thought the same. Almost certain that was forward.
I lived around the corner in Harrisons Gardens when I was a student! First time I went in the Diggers in 1981 I asked for a pint of heavy and a half of lager for the girlfriend, the barman looked me straight in the eye and said 'Fuck off!' Slightly shocked, I then asked for a pint and half of heavy and he said 'thats better son' and then served me. He was a baldy headed, skinny older guy with glasses, dressed like all the barmen in his maroon jacket - I think he died of consumption?bogbunny wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:47 pmAye, back in the day when Bill Farmer was the bar manager (1981???).Tichtheid wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:41 pm

Hadn't been back for donkeys, then worked briefly in Edinburgh in '15 and went in for a pint, Diggers totally changed, empty , beer totally average. Then went to the Riccarton Arms in Currie (old uni haunt, again totally changed... getting old sux)Tichtheid wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:51 pmIt was '83 to '85 that I went there regularly, I haven't been back for a while now.bogbunny wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:47 pmAye, back in the day when Bill Farmer was the bar manager (1981???).Tichtheid wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:41 pm
