I was fascinated by the physicality of New Zealanders. None looked like they were gym monkeys, compared to the Irish. They all looked lithe. Slender... quick...even their forwards (back row) didn't look massive. Yet they were stopping men who looked like they could blow them over.

Must be psychologically insulting to be massive, thinking you are going to monster your skinny looking opposite number..and have him constantly stop you on the gain line.

They are Bugatti Veryon's dressed up like mini metros.

Hopefully it's now going to be acknowledged that Porter continually scrummages illegally and he'll continue to be called for it.

I begin to think that Ireland might skid - and maybe crash - now. The team’s strength was confidence and cohesion. There’s actually not a lot of standout by position. But yet another 1/4 final exit is a massive dent to self-belief.

Mind, poorer performances from this Ireland team will still be head and shoulders above anything England and Wales can offer.

All in all, well done NZ. The better team.

I lived around the corner in Harrisons Gardens when I was a student! First time I went in the Diggers in 1981 I asked for a pint of heavy and a half of lager for the girlfriend, the barman looked me straight in the eye and said 'Fuck off!' Slightly shocked, I then asked for a pint and half of heavy and he said 'thats better son' and then served me. He was a baldy headed, skinny older guy with glasses, dressed like all the barmen in his maroon jacket - I think he died of consumption?

We were in the back room of the Diggers one evening not long after, having had a few beers, playing dominos and my mate accidentally set his long hair on fire with his cigarette lighter. I threw a pint of beer over his head to put the flames out and was promptly chucked out of the pub for getting beer on the doms table. Ah those were the days!
