Saw this in an art blog I follow. I wouldn’t have expected to see that in a 40s ad!

I’m not sure where pinups were found but this product seems like the sort that’d appear in standard mags of the day. Nice bum, to be fair.

Apparently they appeared in mainstream publications such as the Saturday Evening Post and Fortune Magazine, and it wasn’t the illustrations that caused outrage, but the double entendres in the accompanying text:

The pictures themselves recall the classic pinup illustrations by Gil Elvgren

I saw that... and a Canadian who embarrassed herself (to me, at least) by saying "our national symbol on our national sport" ... not beavers and not our 'national sport' (winter: hockey, summer: lacrosse). Someone else said it was French and that les marmottes featured in many other sports so I went hunting. :)

It's the bit that forces you to watch the adds  they precede and follow the add breaks

I follow Lego Park Rangers on FB. They have a great sense of humour:
New Years Day is a day for hope and dreams of a safe and healthy year ahead. More than anything we just hope that, as we eventually roam the wasteland, we can still find somewhere to stamp our passport. Cheers to 2021! It can’t be worse, can it?! #FindYourPark #RecreateResponsibly

I think Sarries might have a good strategy here to open up defences... blur their vision with the pattern on their shirts!
