Can I be the first to say paddle boards are now another vehicle womens shouldn't be driving

Did anyone read the IT article re Romanian workers being denied Social Welfare.
Has the union rep provided any explanation why the Polish Government has welshed on their own taxpayer's rights?
Has he given any story as to what his union are doing to resolve the situation with the Polish Authorities and or worker's agencies.
Or has he just shown his incompetence by complaining to Irish newspapers about Irish authorities?

So, these workers have declared themselves tax resident in Poland (and, I presume stick to the rules regarding tax residency). Now this is either legal, under Irish and EU law, or illegal. If it is illegal, the appropriate authorities, tax, employment and police, should take action. However I suspect it is not illegal, and the union reps are just whinging.

Yeah his father is a regular mountain biker from South county Dublin, it’s true unfortunately

Many years ago I worked on the continent for an Irish Agency paying Irish tax & insurance. I assumed then that what was happening was legal
and would assume it still is. I was there years before the single market
We knew that we could never use that country's welfare facilities, and knew that if we did require anything we would have to return.
Back then we were Irish workers employed by an Irish company. I've no idea why the Romanians are signing up with Polish agents.
After saying that, in the 80's Irish and English guys were signing up with Dutch agents to work in Germany.

I suspect the workers are working something like 4/5 month (whatever the tax codes of Ireland and Poland allow) stints in Ireland, and the rest in sister meat plants in Poland. I also suspect that, in terms of take home pay, each Irish stint pays for another room on the house they are building in Romania, and that the Polish earnings keep themselves and their family in Romania for the year. And that, on the whole, the workers are quite happy with the situation.

We were doing very well out of it. On paper we were earning the minimal amount for an Irish SW stamp, but were taking home twice as much again in "expenses". On top of that we were housed and fed. Were driven to work everyday in a limo. We covered the cost of an air ticket IR£280 over the period of 7 weeks , and if we didn't fly back we received the extra 40 quid a week. We were out most nights, but were still saving more than half the cash we were paid.

I was about to ask if the books are any good, but then remembered my vow to never start another unfinished sci-fi/fantasy series again, at the very least until Rothfuss gets his arse in gear and releases something.

They need to tidy up the east link area. We now have a fantastic cycle lane from Glasthule to Bayside but the part from Irishtown to Fairview is a disgrace. They have loads of space for a segregated bike lane by the cottages at Irishtown that look into the east link - why haven’t they put a cycle lane there. The east link bridge is also very narrow, and the road surfacing through Dublin port is disgraceful. There’s a few half arsed sections of cycle path in the port but they’re really just lines painted on a footpath by idiots, they don’t link up, they are pointless

I know many of the guys and girls on both the Galway and Kilronan boats and I can tell you that they certainly have no problem going out in any weather at anytime of the day to do what they volunteer for.
