I'm still unclear about how the ref explained it. Did you hear what he said?
From memory, he said that the maul had stopped (it clearly hadn't) and therefore having maul players in front of the ball carrier was a truck and trailer obstruction situation.
Ah cool, I thought at the time the ref pinged Laulala for detaching and rejoining the maul in front of Taylor - which would make him offside, no? It was the only thing that seemed to make sense. The maul clearly didn't stop moving.

That's the way I thought it happened as well mate. I was sure he pinged the player, rather than the maul

Yep, and the two SI players directly in front of Taylor stayed bound the whole time, as did Taylor himself. They all looked fine to me.

Cracking game.

As a neutral, would be great to see this as a 3 match series.

Be great, or even a 3 way series with West Island (wallabies) would be worth a look. I know it's never going to happen, but good to think on.

Thought they said they stepped sideways, as in they didn't roll around to the side maintaining contact with the maul but stepped to the side creating another pod which created the obstruction as no NI players were connected
