This is what America would be like if everyone was white. These troglodytes would find something else to discriminate about.
To perotct all of us you must protect the least of us. Fundamental to English / British philosophy of John Locke, Harriet Taylor Miil &. John Stuart Mill, Adam Smith etc and the fundamental of British and American democracy and approach to human rights. Somehow we seem to have forgotten about it as societies.

Can't get over the fact two Tennessee representatives were expelled from their Congress due to protesting in favour of gun control. They now have to run for office again in a special election in order to be reinstated.
God forbid these representatives represent their constituents.
Apparently extremely rare too. I know it wasn't a straight line with regard to their expulsion but it stinks
Im wondering to what extent it was inevitable. What I mean is that Id assume that most of those who voted in favour depend upon NRA money for campaign finance, or at least don't want to get a negative appraisal from them. That or they need pro 2A votes come election time.
Even if some of those Republican lawmakers might have sympathised with the protest the way that their politics is funded guaranteed their expulsion.

There were three who protested but the two who got bumped we're black and the one who didn't, well you guessed it.
Its ludicrous. I'm wondering why they are ok with these optics?

Even the 3rd one who didn’t get bumped said something along the lines of “well I’m a 60 year old white woman and they are young black men”
For avoidance of doubt, she was supporting them

I what might just be the most egregious example of witness tampering, & obstruction of Justice yet; the shitgibbon is now sueing Michael Cohen for $500 million.
The case is the usual word salad of lies & spite, which doesn't have a hope in hell of being successful, & so is obviously intended to intimidate Cohen before he steps into the witness box against the shitgibbon.

Fox's lawyers are now fucked too !
At the 11th hour, after claiming in official filings, that the wrinkled Ozzie scrote didn't have an official role in Fox, they finally had to admit that he does, & now the Judge is unbelievably pissed, because they were supposed to have completed discovery, & be selecting a jury & going to trial in the next week.
The Judge has now appointed a special master to determine if this was a lie or a mistake , & will probably issue a serious fine, but if he's sufficiently angry, he can tell the jury that Fox hasn't cooperated, & has lied, & all of this can result in the Jury tacking even more zeros onto the punitive damages fine.
By the end of the month, Dominion could own the Fox network, & Rupert's little island hideaway....
So 10/16 of Biden's great great grandparents were Irish. So he deems himself to have Irish roots. I can just about see if he his grandparents were Irish, but 2 further generations back. A bit far fetched tbh. He is an American for goodness sake.

It all feels a bit contrived. Which it is, to a great extent, as it's playing to voters in the US with similar perspectives.
Ultimately it's up to him and I'm sure he does actually like having distant Irish heritage, even if he cherry-picks a bit, but I do agree it all looks a bit weird to make such a song and dance about something so long ago.
What I do find truly weird is the constant American political interjections into Northern Ireland - and (perhaps more pertinently) why we even give these the time of day. It was handy having a relatively neutral mediator during the worst of the troubles, but that should be as far as it goes.

I highly doubt the US government give two fucks about NI.
Plenty of US companies have made RoI their home in the last few decades. Relatively stable political environment (until the Shinners get in anyway), part of the EU, educated workforce, English speaking etc.
NI is far too much hassle for them. It might have been more important back in the 90s before most of the FDI went to the south.

In which case, the US can gracefully bow out of all conversations relating to Windsor agreements and the like.
Another factor in companies setting up in Ireland was the very low corporation tax rate, which alongside the other attractions you've noted means it's a good place to be based - especially for some of the softer (i.e. not based upon heavy import-export, given Ireland's slight geographical remoteness) industries like IT. It's also led to a fair bit of skilled immigration, which is a very nice turnabout for a country where many of the better educated historically looked overseas for employment (my mum and many of my Irish family had to move to England or further for work)

The Brits are proven bad faith actors when it comes to the north.

People feel adrift on the states sometimes. To counter that they often emphasise the origins of their family. It grounds them and gives them a sense of identity. The US involve themselves in the North no more than the UK has in Commonwealth nations. As for giving them the time of day. Please. Just please.
Rather the point of the Commonwealth.

The big news over the weekend was the start of the Fox Vs Dominion case got kicked back a day.
Sounds like the Ozzie cunt is desperate not to go to a jury, & wants to settle. I just hope Dominion don't settle, I want to see him, & all his vile talking heads squirm under cross-examination

You're unlikely to see it, Fox has succeeded in having TV coverage removed because they feared it would ruin the integrity of the trial. Something they're so worried about they've encouraged witnesses to give false representation when being deposed, have failed to hand over evidence, handed over other evidence too late and mislead the judge as to various structural points around the Murdoch business.

The audio feed will thankfully be available.
I want to see someone do what they've done with trials before, where they get actors to recreate the court proceedings using the actual dialog.

The audio feed isn't exactly useless, but it's not far off. Maybe someone with an Aussie accent will stand out, or someone with a well known voice so you'd have some idea who's talking and thus in what context they're speaking.
But when the various attorneys in the room start sounding off it'll feel as organised as a riot to someone listening to the audio feed.

We'll have to see if we get any details of what the settlement entails.

Holy shit !!!
A $787.5m payoff to a company that's valued at $30m, & a grovelling apology, & Fox admitting it lied.
Next up, they have to give a similar settlement to Smartmatic !
Edit: Oh, & let's not forget about all those innocent voting officials that were abused, who should now go after Fox too !
