Serbia on fire against the US in the basketball semi final. Could it be an upset for the ages.

Lyles excuse is farkin bullcrap. If you had COVID you wouldn't be bouncing around like a cunt before race.
Best part, he's now excused himself out of likely relay gold medal too.
Twat
Tebogo shat all over him, what a run.

Wow - Lyles wins silver in the Mens 200m final - but reveals he has covid.
That's a huge achievement.
Bronze, and he caught it at 120m, bollocks

I’m asking because I don’t know. She says she’s non binary and wants to be called they. So how does she compete in the women’s competition and could she compete in the men’s? And by extension could a they who was a male at birth compete in the women’s events? Or does they not really mean anything in gender terms in a sports context? But presumably does in…. I’m lost

Yup. The reality is that Lyles has utterly dominated the 200m these past few years but has not run faster than Tebogo did tonight since 2022.
COVID or not he was beaten by the better man.

It's a matter of physicality versus identification. There is no question about the gender of the person involved. Physically, that is a woman, who happens to be gay and doesn't identify as female...
as far as we are concerned, as fans following sport, there is no question and no dilemma to face. How a person identifies is a complex issue that revolves around personal choice and whatever reasons lie behind making that choice.

Ahh, yes that makes sense. Was tired and my head got into a bit of a spin about it, but actually very simple!

She can compete in men's shot put but she'd be a bit shit. She also identifies as female... at least some times.
Raven Saunders of Team USA competes with a full facemask and ... "It is one way to make me stand out and want to encourage other women"

Somewhat grating that the narrative of Lyles lost solely cos he had COVID has gained traction.
Tebogo is a serious talent who has been one to watch and an up and comer for a few years now. That performance last night was something that he was more than capable of and I believe he would have beaten Lyles even if he was fully fit.
I just hate to see athletes denied their credit on a day that belonged to them.

Quite. Lyles hasn't run as fast as Tobogo ran in a couple of years.

‘IF’ he has Covid he put all the other athletes medical people and officials at risk. Stunningly selfish (although I can understand why he did it)

Ach, KJT doesn’t quite get enough to win gold in the heptathlon. Silver for her though. Remarkable after the injuries and all the other things that have gone on in her life.
Forced Thiam to run a PB in the 800 for the gold.

Did I hear that correctly? The commentator seemed to be suggesting that Chebiot(sp?) the winner of the 5k&10K ran the last 600m in the 5K faster than Keely did in the 800!! surely that can't be true

Women's 400m last night.
Adeleke did well to come in 4th. What's striking is that the world record is from the 80's and set by an athlete from GDR.
No way that's a clean record.

Lydia Ko completes the full set of Olympic medals with the gold. Brilliant performance over the four days, albeit with a little wobble down the stretch there.
