Basically chav wars, same thing you will see on council estates up and down the country.
Think it's more about the value of information (in this case, 'celebrity' gossip) and whether you've any expectation of it remaining private/not be financially exploited by others if you've broadcast it - even if in a limited manner - yourself.

Some people are absolutely shameless !
A foundation set up in the name of Captain Sir Tom Moore paid tens of thousands of pounds to companies run by the fundraiser’s daughter and her husband – one of which was registered only days before the charity was incorporated.
The Captain Tom Foundation, established in 2020 after the former army officer gained national attention with his pandemic fundraising efforts, received more than £1m in donations in its first year.
Accounts for the charity published in recent days reveal that £54,039 has been paid to two companies run by Captain Tom’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, and her husband, Colin. They also show that more money was spent on management costs than was given to charities.
The Independent can also reveal that the Charity Commission watchdog has a live regulatory compliance case – used to look into whether charities are acting in line with legal requirements – on the foundation.

Threads started solely to whinge about PR and the mods both here and there. You know who you are.
Tbf Sefton bumped a thread that was a year and a half old
I must have missed it.

This seems timely...let's hope it's a first step in more rapid progress
Major breakthrough on nuclear fusion energy
European scientists say they have made a major breakthrough in their quest to develop practical nuclear fusion - the energy process that powers the stars.
The UK-based JET laboratory has smashed its own world record for the amount of energy it can extract by squeezing together two forms of hydrogen.
The experiments produced 59 megajoules of energy over five seconds (11 megawatts of power). This is more than double what was achieved in similar tests back in 1997.
It's not a massive energy output - only enough to boil about 60 kettles' worth of water. But the significance is that it validates design choices that have been made for an even bigger fusion reactor now being constructed in France.
"The JET experiments put us a step closer to fusion power," said Dr Joe Milnes, the head of operations at the reactor lab. "We've demonstrated that we can create a mini star inside of our machine and hold it there for five seconds and get high performance, which really takes us into a new realm."

Have a look through the pictures of this rather lovely house and see if you can pinpoint exactly when during the renovations the designer or owners went on a massive acid binge

An honest mistake, must have thought they were paying out to shareholders or government ministers...
An energy firm has apologised after 74 customers hit by power cuts during Storm Arwen accidentally received compensation cheques for trillions of pounds.
Northern Powergrid is paying tens of thousands of pounds to customers hit by days of outages in November.
But a number with Halifax and Newcastle postcodes received cheques made out for 13-figure sums.
Northern Powergrid said a clerical error was to blame.

But more seriously, you normally get rent for the pylon
I'm not surprised, its practically living in the front bedroom.
It does raise the question of what came first, the bungalow or the pylon. Surely, if you lived there, you could politely ask them to maybe place it a few feet further back so it wasn't right in front of the bloody house.

If you look at the map you can see that this property has been set much further back from the road than the adjoining properties, so the pylon was clearly there first and the estate has been built around it.

Isn't there some talk regarding HT cables potentially causing health issues?

Between the ages of 5 and 10 I lived within 100m of one and used to get severe migraines during that period. These stopped once we moved. Just saying. Completely anecdotal and probably all in my head...

In SA you're not allowed to build close to any overhead power lines. When we bought my previous property, there was something that resembled a home right under the overheads. The property was sold as an empty stand and we were "advised" not to restore the old farmstead but build a new one further away. Not that we were planning too anyways. Those big ones carry a huge load, If you hold up a florescent bulb under them it draws the current and lights up.

I'm no sparky but I know I wouldn't want to live under one. I'm surprised it's even allowed in the UK. Over here it's illegal.

No houses have been built under power lines for ages here also. Don't know the exact date when, think it was late 70s they stopped..

They have tons of houses underneath powerlines / pylons in Auckland, particularly around Massey. Don't think there are any health problems, but they are a bit unsightly

Don't think it's so much about health as it's about safety. Although I cant think that it's that healthy anyways. In a country where earthquakes and tropical storms are frequent it makes zero sense though.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we don't have people doing it over here I'm only saying that it's illegal to do so. People living in informal settlements don't give a fok though.

That's where I was living during my migraine period.
Haven't there been studies in NZ around cancer rates near pylons?

Yes you don't get either of those things in Auckland though. I don't think there is a safety issue, it just doesn't look nice. Pretty sure the pylons have been there for decades

Pylons don't just fall over, they're pretty sturdy and made to last forever. Cables do snap though and you don't want to be near one of those fokors when they come down.

It’s mind boggling. I think there might have been some one saying “I’ll probably watch it anyway” in there but it was quickly drowned out by the lunacy that engulfed that thread.

I do not want to read PR but I'm confused as to how that thread could be bad. Can you explain what's happened with it?

Pretty much, it was fairly neutral for the first page then after someone posted preview pics it all went off and checking the latest page, about 12 or so, it was still apeshit
