Who the hell have we got to replace him?

Might as well recall Hibbard if all we need is a solid lump. I was hoping Dewi was going to be a winner but it looks like he’ll need a season or two before he can put on his big boy pants.
Yeah. He needs a run of games. He's barely played at regional level...what is it, 4 appearances? He needs a good season of playing regularly and then we'll see where he's up to. I reckon he'll make it but it's still very early.
Looking forward to seeing Ben Carter and Aneurin Owen. Scarlets pack looks strong...going to be a test for our front 5 again.Dragons XV (v Scarlets A): Dafydd Howells, Owen Jenkins, Joe Thomas, Aneurin Owen, Jared Rosser, Josh Lewis, Luke Baldwin; Conor Maguire, Ellis Shipp, Lloyd Fairbrother, Ben Carter, Joe Maksymiw, Huw Taylor (c), Ben Fry, Taine Basham
Replacements: Rhys Lawrence, Josh Reynolds, Chris Coleman, Max Williams, George Young, Dan Babos, Will Reed, Rio Dyer
15 Tom Prydie; 14 Ryan Conbeer, 13 Tyler Morgan, 12 Paul Asquith, 11 Aled Brew; 10 Angus O’Brien, 9 Dane Blacker; 1 Rob Evans, 2 Marc Jones, 3 Javan Sebastian, 4 Tevita Ratuva, 5 Morgan Jones, 6 Ed Kennedy, 7 Jac Morgan (capt), 8 Uzair Cassiem.
Reps: Taylor Davies, Shaun Evans, Dylan Evans, Kemsley Mathias, Werner. Kruger, Harri O’Connor, Jac Price, Tom Phillips, Joe Miles, Dan Davis, Carwyn Tuipulotu, Will Homer, Sam Costelow, Joe Roberts, Ioan Nicholas.

Dragons XV 10 vs Scarlets A 36. As expected, the Scarlets pack just too strong for the Dragons. The Dragons backrow was impressive - Basham and Fry in particular being absolute bloody nuisances and smashing into everything they could. I've said it before, if Dragons had the quality coming through in more positions like they do the backrow they'd be golden.
Jarred Rosser looked good - worked his arse off, and there were some glimpses of what could have been from guys like Aneurin Owen, but the backline had scraps to work off. Defence was admirable for long stretches of the game but with scrum creaking and lineout misfiring, plus the substitute 10 Will Reed missing touch with a couple of penalty kicks, we never got into the game ball in hand, and it just kept coming back until eventually the dam burst.
Set piece seems to have degenerated recently, and phase play still looks ponderous. If Ryan can't find a way to inject pace into our carrying we're going to keep getting put on the back foot. The likes of Basham and Fry can't do it all in the pack (honourable mention to the carrying of Josh Reynolds late on and Rio Dyer too for that matter). A few phases of one up carries and then lose it or kick was a pattern we've seen too many times. Needs a re-think. Most of these guys haven't played in a while and they were outmatched up front...but still, getting the basics wrong too often to stick in games and put the opposition under pressure.

Glad there is rugby back on, though this french is a friendly. i'll definitely watch.
The scot game is the biggest, we wont beat ireland or england, not without anscombe, tomos and lane struggle to see how pivac can remain if we lose at home to scotland. its a phenomenal record, he's had plenty of time to bed in, pressure is mounting

Apols for the post on a National thread ... but just watching a youtube video of a Documentary on Aberfan .... holy sweet Jesus .... how the fuck isn't Welsh Independence at the same level as Scottish ???
I mean; I'd always had a wee bit of knowledge of the Disaster, but I'd never understood just how awful the handling, by both main Westminster Political Parties, of the bereaved was; & how the NCB could happily kill children in Wales, with the same impunity as Union Carbide in Bhopal; with even less consequences.
It's incredible that an, "accident"; if corporate manslaughter is ever an accident, of more than hundred children, can have such a low profile. We only have to look a year back for a similar incident in Brazil, that cost almost twice as many lives; to see that the lessons have not be learned, 70 odd years later; & lives will continue to be lost, until we see, & acknowledge the mistakes that are being made.

FF, this doesn't get anywhere near the coverage Hillsborough has had (both were truly terrible). It's been quietly airbrushed out of history sadly.
My dad was working for the NCB at the time. He just couldn't talk about it and clamed up everytime it was mentioned.

Welsh Independence is surging right now, off the back of Westminster incompetence. In June the number reporting they would vote yes was 25%, by August it was polling at 32%, and I wouldn't be surprised if the next poll shows higher still. Drakeford, ironically a unionist through and through, has shown that actually when Wales is governing Welsh affairs we can be effective. Boris, and the incompetence and corruption going on throughout the government, is doing an amazing job - it's managed to wake Wales from its political torpor and made people think 'well, we couldn't do any worse'.
I'm not sure drakeford has done anything to be proud of, his general stance has been wait and see what westminster does, change it in a small and anal way, then criticise westminster. Lookout frodder, I will be making a beeline for the border if we come to that.
I see our media has gone sheedy crazy, approaching Same Davies level, he's good, but I don't think he warranted supplanting Jarrod. I also like how the last 4 competent welsh 10s have all been trained or matured at Cardiff
I reckon we're in for a serious reaming this autumn, selection is a mess, coaches are average and all regions but Cardiff are playing well below their means

Sunshine in a bottle, you are.
I disagree about Drakeford, but I don't want to spend too much time on politics - it's f*cking everywhere right now.
On Sheedy - it's one thing to marshall a backline with Radradra and Piatau, where the style is all action, and well drilled from week in week out coaching...but internationals, with less time together, less time to think on the pitch and different coaching, is a different matter. For what it's worth I think Sheedy is probably going to be a tidy international player, but I feel like they're making it impossible for the average fan, who hasn't been watching Bristol, to not get their hopes up. If he doesn't play like Barry John they might be disappointed.

So that leaves Halfpenny at FB, with Ioan Lloyd back at Bristol (although with Wasps now confirmed for the final I wonder how soon he gets released back, and Sheedy too for that matter), Adams, North and Rees-Zammit...fingers crossed we get to see Rees-Zammit get his first cap this weekend.Liam Williams and Jonah Holmes have been released by Wales to play for the Scarlets and Dragons respectively this weekend. Liam hasn’t played since March.
I agree with you with Jarrod but I wanted him in over patchell. He’s solid but we know what we have with him and while he’s solid, I know I’d never have him as first choice.
I haven’t been in wales recently has it been that bad? I’m basing it off what I’ve seen for Bristol which I thought would suit the new style.penguin wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 8:33 am

You know how it is though, particular with WOL, a player becomes their flavour of the month and then every other article is about them. Sheedy isn't quite at Rhys Webb levels yet, but there's potential.RBear wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 2:43 pmI agree with you with Jarrod but I wanted him in over patchell. I really do think that this autumn should be used to heavily blood younger players and experiment a bit. Have a proper mix of youth and experience. Now we know we’re a top seed for the RWC the pressure should be off. How’s the time to make mistakes and learn from them.

SLH has looked more ready for international rugby than any other Welsh backrower I've seen so far this season, I have high hopes for the lad.

Wonder whether Cardiff will get another slice of the scarlets pie now we've had another player pulled in.
Bar the injured Navidi, every single Cardiff call up is in the 23. Its almost if there wasn't anyone else who came close to the talent level, they were in. All other calls went in favour of WRU1&2
We must've left the lube at home for Pivacs final season butt fuckings we gave the scarlets.
France, Ireland, england, Scotland, georgia and another.
1 from 6 and Pivac stays I think. Lose them all and he goes. if only japan didn't pull out...
