They should have asked Gruppenfuhrer Patel to lead the Ukrainian defence efforts, no fuckers would have been able to cross the borders.
There is still an assumption that they can provide everything online. I might be wrong, but internet access may not be the easiest thing for refugees to arrange. Hopefully some assistance can be provided in Poland that will allow them to come direct to the UK from there.Tichtheid wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 11:29 amUK announces more changes to Ukrainian visa scheme following outcry
The British home secretary has pledged to streamline the online visa application system for Ukrainians following heavy criticism of her response to the crisis.
Priti Patel told MPs the system will be simplified from Tuesday following pressure from both opposition and Conservative MPs and the Ukrainian government.
She said that Ukrainian refugees will no longer have to go to a visa application centre to provide their biometrics before coming to the UK.
PA reports that she said:
From Tuesday, I can announce that Ukrainians with passports will no longer need to go to a visa application centre to give their biometrics before they come to the UK.
Instead, once their application has been considered and appropriate checks completed, they will receive direct notification that they’re eligible for the scheme and can come to the UK.
In short, Ukrainians with passports will be able to get permission to come here fully online from wherever they are and will be able to give their biometrics once in Britain.
This will mean that visa application centres across Europe can focus their efforts on helping Ukrainians without passports.
Two things, first , it's about time.
Second, I'll believe it when I see it.

Not on the news, far away, don’t look like us. All unpalatable but normal. It is a truly awful war over there with undoubted war crimes from the Saudis. I hope that Ukraine is going to change out collective minds about allowing regimes like that to get away with it because it suits us.I like neeps wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 11:17 am Boris Johnson off to beg the Saudis to pump more oil.
Someone, someday, is going to have to sit me down and explain how their war in Yemen isn't as bad as the Russian war in Ukraine. The pictures of the children in Yemen is very hard to stomach - is it just because they aren't on the news everyday?

Hard left mouthy moron writing puff piece for Putin bag man, is hardly comparable with the UK PM continually ignoring the advice from his security services ??
Baffling response. The guy was essentially Corbyn's chief of staff; being reminded of just how much of a corrupt tankie arsehole he is allows me a moment of disgust. Not everything needs to be subsumed in favour of screaming about the Tories - there's a lot of blame to go around when it comes to Russian influence on UK politics.fishfoodie wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 4:07 pmHard left mouthy moron writing puff piece for Putin bag man, is hardly comparable with the UK PM continually ignoring the advice from his security services ??

It's not a stubbed toe. These people are influential. Don't downplay it just because it's not the Tories. It's important that we don't pretend it's just the Tories.fishfoodie wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 9:35 pmOh yeah, for sure the "Stop The War" mob are apologist scum, but they don't make policy, or get within a million miles of Intelligence data,or military secrets.JM2K6 wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 9:03 pmBaffling response. The current PM on the other hand ....
I'm just pointing out that one is stubbed toe; the other is stage three cancer in your Democracy.
It was Wilson wasn't it, that MI5 kept a file on, & people in positions of power were planning to unseat him, because they were worried that he was under the influence of the Kremlin ? I just wonder if they're doing the save for Conservative PMs
Absolutely; I think we're agreeing, & this isn't just a problem for the UK, or the Tories, it's just that once again, the Bumblecunts complete absence of a moral compass, & the City of London, make things ten times worse for you.JM2K6 wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 9:48 pm The biggest problem. Looks like the Home Office are slowly catching up with the UK public. This isn't feckin rocket science yet they are miles behind the curve and still feck it up big style. Doesn't help when they sub contract visa processing etc to a crap dodgy offshore company. What a pile of shite a bit like we were moving heaven and earth to bring Afghanistans here after deserting them! This disaster has been coming for weeks and at the very least the Gov should have already:
- declared a target for Ukrainian refugees with no connections into UK - say 50k - over and above other routes
- set up a air corridor from Poland or similar to fly refugees directly into UK cities
- work with local councils to establish target numbers and prepare for arrival ie health care, etc.
- provided guidance to all councils on managing refugees expected and outline national support available
- set up a database of all UK folk who are willing to house refugees and check them out to avoid the usual nut jobs
- agreed a funding package to enable refugees/families looking after them some resource to help them survive
- work with local and international charities to set up support networks ie translation services, etc
- support schools with resources to take kids asap when they arrive
I honestly cannot believe we don't have a 'plan' for taking in refugees already prepared and able to be put into operation within hours. Perhaps we do but this bunch of cunts don't want to do it?
Although the refugee crisis is 'over there' in Europe the reality is it is less than a 3 hour flight away. We can get these poor folk in asap just as easily as it is for my mates to go on a weekend stag night in Warsaw and still get back home for work on the Monday morning. We need to do our share. However the bunch of miserable, xenophobic, miserable bastards in Gov are more interested in protecting their Russki cronies and their dodgy funding than they are poor women and kids fleeing from a country fighting to prevent Putin endanger the whole of Europe. They are feckin bastards and make me sick!

Conservatives are blaming a “handful of very wealthy peers” who make up the shooting and hunting lobby over the news that legislation banning the import of hunting trophies is to be scrapped.
The animals abroad bill contained measures including banning adverts for holidays that include elephant rides. It was to be a flagship bill signalling to the world that post-Brexit Britain was a world leader in animal rights, legislating against animal cruelty abroad. Most significantly, it included a commitment to ban the import of endangered animal parts.
But over the weekend it emerged that the bill was no longer likely to be implemented. Government sources said it had been scrapped, and that manifesto commitments including the trophy hunting import ban would no longer take place in this parliament. The government has officially blamed a lack of parliamentary time to implement the bill, elements of which were promised in the 2019 Conservative manifesto.
Ministers have blamed lobbying from the traditional wing of the party for No 10’s change of heart over the bill. A senior government source said: “A handful of crusties have managed to seize control. A handful of very wealthy peers are pressing for all the animal welfare measures to be dropped because they fear eventually it might mean their weekends could be affected.”
