Quietly chuffed to be clocking up a year off the turps today.

Think I might celebrate tonight with an ice-cold bottle of... lemon, lime & bitters.

It will be easy to track your sobriety -- you started on my birthday!!

Well done, guv.

Well that's me done my 3 months/90 days off the bottle! I will have a wee drink tomorrow night to celebrate. Not as long as some of you guys have achieved but Ive hit my target.

Diet and exercise regimes also going well and I have stuck to both. Diet is to eat about 1800'ish calories a day, mostly vegetables, fruit, porridge and some chicken/steak - no potatoes, rice, pasta or bread. Defo no sweets or biscuits, etc. Exercise is either golf or gym almost every days. Gym is now 30mins on static bike, 15 mins stretching, 15mins core exercises ie planks, crunchies etc and then 30+mins doing 10-12 weight stations, mostly upper body/core doing 3x12 reps using medium weights, nothing above 50kg. Feeling much, much fitter and I've got to the point when folk are asking me if I have lost weight as I look different.

Health benefits - I've lost 21lbs but feels more, about 4" off my waist, resting heart rate is 10% lower, sleep patterns better. I've also saved myself quite a few £££ with diet and no alcohol.

Trick now is to avoid slipping back to bad habits and to try and just drink alcohol occasionally. Diet and gym I will continue as I am now in the 'zone' and like the benefits.

Would I recommend going alcohol free for a spell like 3 months along with diet and exercise regime ... definitely!

Bloody good news, mate. Heaps of benefits and it also sounds as if you have good a good handle on your drinking.

Cheers Kiwias! It's good to have a forum like this to write down your ideas, thoughts and progress relatively anonymously and get decent constructive feedback from like minded folk. Tips, advice and support is always appreciated.
