This shambles was sadly so predictable. The bowlers aren't bad, but the batters other then Root and Stokes (historically) are not designed for test cricket any more. Especially overseas, but even in England they rely on those two.

The logical step after this tour would be an almost complete rebuild, but does England have the depth for that?

Most of the England top 8 can bat. But they haven’t played enough 4/5 day cricket in the last 3 years. They only concentrate on pajama cricket.

County cricket has changed and not much red ball cricket on bowler friendly wickets is played here any more. White ball cricket is where the money is... I think it’s now 52 ducks this year. The record is 54, so there’s still a chance they could beat that ignominious record today.
