There’s still two more tests to come. At some point continuing must be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

I think we've all run out of adjectives to describe the paucity of these displays. You are right, it's like watching a victim being tortured.

It would be difficult to script a grislier day than the fate that befell England here. Every time you think they cannot possibly dig themselves any deeper, they find fresh ways to confound. After a first-innings capitulation for 185, Michael Vaughan said that “the only thing they’ve got right is to turn up on time”. No sooner did he make that remark than they contrived to turn up 30 minutes late.

"It's that time of the year"?

Centurion isn't in bloody Cape town.

Normally the Highveldt has short, sharp thunderstorms, not dreary Cape drizzle.

Australia outclassing England yet again. I can't see anything other than a 5-0 series whitewash now.

England could not have fucked this tour up any more thoroughly if they'd tried. Clueless.

Nice avatar change 👍

This shambles was sadly so predictable. The bowlers aren't bad, but the batters other then Root and Stokes (historically) are not designed for test cricket any more. Especially overseas, but even in England they rely on those two.

Yeah, it appears that Root, Stokes and Anderson are carrying the side atm. Robinson looks very promising, but these repeated failures can't be giving the other less experienced players much confidence.

The logical step after this tour would be an almost complete rebuild, but does England have the depth for that?

Most of the England top 8 can bat. But they haven’t played enough 4/5 day cricket in the last 3 years. They only concentrate on pajama cricket.

No.... they don't. Talking on the radio here about it.. and these guys are as good as it gets... County cricket has changed and not much red ball cricket on bowler friendly wickets is played here any more. White ball cricket is where the money is... And sadly it's not good preparation for test cricket. So England have long term problems ..

One of the commentators mentioned that England has something like 50 test ducks this calendar year, so if these guys are as good as it gets they're in deep shit.

I think it’s now 52 ducks this year. The record is 54, so there’s still a chance they could beat that ignominious record today.

Apparently Boland’s 6 - 7 is the best 6 for in Test history.

England equal their record number of ducks; 54 in one year. Abject.
