This post encapsulates exactly why you are not welcome.

Plenty of the rugby in the 6N is turgid, boring crap. Some is also very good.

But all of that is secondary to the history, the friendly rivalry, the meeting up with mates, the friendships you make with other supporters that last for decades, the jumping on a train, or plane for an hour, and having an unforgettable weekend in Paris, Dublin, Rome, Edinburgh, Cardiff.

You lot don't get it, and would devalue the whole thing. No thanks.

Herein lies the issue.
The very best of the combined strengths of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales were comprehensively beaten by the $pringboks. Chances are we would win the 6N at a bit of a canter. They would rather not be shown up again, so they would rather keep Italy and maybe add Georgia, Japan and or Tonga / Fiji to keep their winning percentages up.

As much as they have accused us of being bad winners, they are incredibly bad losers.
Vanishingly few people want that.

Most of us just want the 6 Nations to carry on being a tournament for the 6 best teams in Europe. Even with their relative shiteness, that includes Italy. There are other test windows to play other teams.

To your other post which quoted mine, I think the most withering critcism about Rassie has related to his off field shenanigans and those certainly don't change any views on wanting to maintain our European tournament as it is.

In all seriousness, I too like the 6N the way it is and I would also be defensive about it regarding the proposed changes.

I don't think it's ideal for the Boks to join it. I'd prefer they continue with the URC plans but stick to the RC. If we did join, that would mean no more November tests which I greatly enjoy.

I've always found rugby types to be pretty much the same wherever I've travelled noting I haven't been to NZ.

You should be welcoming the Bok with open arms and hearts. You may actually learn how to play rugby and compete with the SH powerhouses.

I hate the November tests. Many of our players have bene playing since late Jan / early Feb and are finished by the year end.

Personally, I don't want us to join the 6N either. It will mess up a well established and respected competition. Italy shouldn't have joined either.

If they're talking about it, it'll be about the money.

Benefit by... not having those players available during the 6N? All of a sudden the value of Saffer players drops dramatically. This is both good and bad, obviously, but it's a negative for the NH clubs.

We don't want SA in the 6N. Very little appetite from the fans, no space in the calendar, even more wear and tear on the players.

They're useful for pro rugby - big, physical, not very expensive, available for more of the season than top quality NH players. They're not "keeping the clubs going", but they do provide excellent squad filler at the very least, and of course the best of them are very good players in their own right.

Make it so they're less likely to be available during the 6N and clubs will stop signing them, which is good for SA rugby but isn't exactly a bonus for the clubs.

The last couple of years with covid disrupted schedules have changed things a bit on that front. We were getting to a point where maybe only a couple of rounds of Premiership would be over the actual test weekends.

However, certainly from an England point of view, the EPS agreement between the RFU and the Premiership has players unavailable for the whole tournament plus a week or two beforehand, not just the test weeks covered by regulation 9, so more than that is missed. Players not eligible for any of the 6 Nations, often South Africans these days for the reasons JMK outlined, are very useful during this period.

No thanks.
The big thing for me about the 6N that including SA, and to a lesser extent Georgia would lose on is the travelling crowd. Sure there are a lot of ex pats in the UK but the 6N has always had and will hopefully continue to have a large amount of both sets of fans at each game.

The URC will be a good trial run
I am hoping that fails at the first hurdle to be honest. The set up has too many similarities to when Super Rugby jumped the shark.

The 6N is a European Tournament steeped in History, I understand you not wanting to change that.

Regarding Rassie and his "shenanigans", as far as we know he sent hat video to World Rugby because he couldn't get the time of day from them regarding the first test. There is no proof that he leaked it to the media.
Same for Gatland. There is no direct evidence that he complained about the video ref, the $pringbok supporters believe it was true and it influenced the TMO.

Neither coaches covered themselves with glory it seems.
I think also most of us are quite familiar with Gatland at this point, we know he likes to play games in the media and we know his tendency to get his teams playing boring Gatlandball, so his shit on and off the field is less surprising to us than Rassie's.
Yip.

The first thing we do is to congrats the winning team supporters.

It's something we grow up with. War on the field, friends off the field.

You must try it.
I'll smash your face to the price of 53 stitches ...

then I'll shake hands right ?

Sportmanship is bollox coming from a safa (or a brit for that matter)
This from a team that very recently went for an early screaming charge down on Farrell's kick
Now that's a really idiotic comparison!

Absolutely zero interest in the Boks joining the 6N. Miserable rugby, miserable fans, devalues the World Cup, creates an odd numbered tournament and adds in travelling half way around the world which realistically I'm never going to do as a fan. Should be a non-starter.

Italy remains a weak link for the comp and we need to find a way of strengthening them up for the long term. Wouldn't be averse to them sitting a few out and learning how to win against worse opposition and loaning say Fiji the spot.
