Disappointing last day. Credit to Bavuma who lead by example. Now to get over the mental block.
Both sides had to play on it. That's no excuse.
We lost a generation because of Kolpak. Well that ended so we will hopefull get some experience players back.Sards wrote: βThu Dec 30, 2021 12:11 pmBoth sides had to play on it. That's no excuse.
Our national cricket is quite pathetic.
Kids don't bother. Don't blame them.
Not sure re the cricketers coming through provincially but it's going to take at least a decade to become a really good side again with the talent I have seen coming through just here in die kaap. Unless we lose all these kids to overseas teams
What does Sards know about cricket anyway. We had a jittery start, and have played hardly any tests this year. By the end of the test we showed we can compete and beat the Indians. I predict a good win in the next test. Sards should just rather STFU on this thread, his trolling is patheticOomStruisbaai wrote: βThu Dec 30, 2021 12:16 pmWe lost a generation because of Kolpak. I am hugely impress with Jansen. South Africa always have the cricket structures to produce good cricket talent.
Dude. I am a very committed parent and have 2 kids that play and a friend of my eldest who I support and get to all the tournaments we get invited to. My wife scores for the team. I stand in as manager when the manager is not available. For any of the age groups. I go to every match every weekend. Split between both boys. Including umpire duty which I try avoid because of my poor eyesight. I understand every format from 6 a side to 5 day although we don't play 5 dayBig Nipper wrote: βThu Dec 30, 2021 12:17 pmWhat does Sards know about cricket anyway. I have watched both from KFC mini cricket right through to now junior club cricket. I think I understand the basics quite well thank you. Including managing a team, team selection and match reports. I also score if my wife and noone else is available. Although I try avoid it, the print on the scoresheets is tiny and vague as vok and trying to pair batsman and bowler to the ball faced is not fun. Normally I keep clues like , yellow shoes or blue socks etc. .Big Nipper wrote: βThu Dec 30, 2021 12:30 pm Watching 12yr olds play mini cricket does not make you an expert on cricket.
...my first match report from under 11s. The kid Gabriel is now the team captain and Tristan scored runs consistently through the season. Thanks to all the boys and parents that made the trek out to the Southern Suburbs. The result of this match was never going to be as important as the lessons learnt. This was the first game the team played together so it was an opportunity to see what the kids strengths are and what they need to work on. Gabriel took the captaincy for this game and won the toss and elected to field. Far too many extras. I feel the boys have now realized how important it is to keep the bowling accurate and minimize the wides and no balls. What we did see was some good bowling from Norman, Divan , Gabriel and Zak. Definitely an area to build on. For the batting there is a lot of work to be done and a few unlucky outs. Tristan shone here today. Some great shots. For the fielding Zak was outstanding. And took the match ball because of his bowling, fielding and for his tied second highest score shared with Caleb. I think the boys know each other after this match and the team can build from this.
Precisely why I posted that the first morning where India scored 80 odd without loss was the big difference.Sards wrote: βThu Dec 30, 2021 12:11 pmBoth sides had to play on it. That's no excuse.

Surely we can take them.
Prepare a mamba
Yes pleaseand win the toss.
Seems QDK has announced his retirement from all Test cricket with immediate effect. Going the route of ABDV.Sandstorm wrote: βThu Dec 30, 2021 4:31 pm Proteas looked rusty, but had some good sessions and the bowlers can only keep improving.
Not delighted with the batting line-up, especially having Maharaj in there on pitches that don't turn. Rather put another batsman in.
Also think we need more pace than Mulder can produce.
De Kock heads off to see his baby born, so likely Verreynne in. Rinky doesn't like him, so I hope he goes really well.

Not surprised at all. He should have done this during the T20 WC.FalseBayFC wrote: βThu Dec 30, 2021 6:44 pmSeems QDK has announced his retirement from all Test cricket with immediate effect. Quinton de Kock has announced a sudden retirement from Test cricket with immediate effect "to spend more time with his growing family". de Kock was due to miss the second and third Tests against India on paternity leave but has decided to step away from the longest format entirely. He remains available to play white-ball cricket for South Africa.
Donβt forget his back is fucked, playing keeper for nearly 2 days straight wonβt help that.Insane_Homer wrote: βThu Dec 30, 2021 7:34 pm de Kock GONE!

Our team have only youngsters. Missing experience players like Faf, AB de Villiers. QdK is a vokken big loss. He is like AB a match winner.Sards wrote: βFri Dec 31, 2021 7:53 am When you are having major issues it is always good to have a clean out and give more ambitious youngsters a chance. This is what I never understood. The lack of willingness to take chances. Who knows. Sometimes a step up from domestic to international defines a player.OomStruisbaai wrote: βFri Dec 31, 2021 7:56 amOur team have only youngsters. Missing experience players like Faf, AB de Villiers. The level of play at our domestic level is nowhere near that of England or Australia. We can more often than not put a decent 11 out, but our depth is not great.Sards wrote: βFri Dec 31, 2021 8:00 amThis is what I never understood. The lack of willingness to take chances. Who knows. I've seen it often enough. When you are constantly playing weak opposition your game is off. Some players prefer the ball coming onto them faster. And more accurately. I have noticed with my youngest he struggles against poor bowling but put him against older more accurate bowling and he thrives. I am sure it's the same with Older kidshandyman wrote: βFri Dec 31, 2021 8:03 amThe level of play at our domestic level is nowhere near that of England or Australia. We're at a low point now and we need a few youngsters to come through fast. Sitting with quite a few journeymen.
But I'm sure that structuring our domestic season almost exclusively around the shortest forms of the game has nothing to do with it...England cricket teams have become accustomed to being forcefully disintegrated by a tour of Australia.
For the fifth time in six tours, they have lost the urn at the earliest available opportunity, this time in record-breakingly swift fashion.
It took just 852.3 overs, the smallest quantity of cricket ever required for Australia to win the Ashes at home after a third Test lasting just 180 overs and four balls - also making this the earliest any team has ever lost a five-Test series.
England supporters of a statistically sensitive disposition should look away now, as I attempt to put numerical perspective on a savage series defeat at the end of a year of startling decline...
No team has ever lost more Tests in a calendar year than the nine defeats suffered by England in 2021.
England have been bowled out for under 150 a joint-record eight times this year.
England batters reached 25 runs 91 times in 2021. Root converted 10 of his 18 into half-centuries, including six three-figure scores. The rest made 22 fifties from 73 scores of 25, with just one hundred - Burns against New Zealand.
England still have only two players who have posted half-centuries in this Ashes.
Only three of England's 15 Tests this year did not feature a duck by one of their openers.

The lure of the IPL and the other T20 pro leagues are a new reality the Proteas have to deal with. Yeah, I'm worried about our batting line up. Let's hope the bowlers do the job upfront to take some pressure off.FalseBayFC wrote: βMon Jan 03, 2022 7:55 am Interesting XI. Can't agree more. You just cannot relax against Nortje. I believe he should also be partly credited for other bowlers wickets. Love his heart, just keep running in hard and bowling as fast as he can all day long.FalseBayFC wrote: βMon Jan 03, 2022 8:17 am We're missing Nortje's 150km/h stuff. It keeps batsmen on their toes.
