So the latest (probably unfounded?) rumours briefly touched upon by both the Irish Independent and Wales Online are that the Kings and Cheetahs will be kicked out of the league, with the Stormers, Bulls, Lions and Sharks joining in their stead.
One would assume that this would maintain the 2 conferences of 8 format (home and away in conference, home or away inter conference) - leading to a 22 game regular season. It would also mean the end of the additional domestic derbies which could be a huge issue. Potentially only one El Classico match per year!

If those 4 come up fully loaded with their current springboks It’s win win id feel.
Cheetahs have flattered to deceive but the kings havent been A worthwhile addition in my opinion
It will depend on those 4 properly slugging it out in their derbies with decent crowds to make a fist of it. If they get SA buy-in it’ll be the biggest thing
Realistically all 4 would have more than enough quality to make the playoffs With their current rosters. And any tv deal needs to showcase what’s happening in the other matches in the league. Currently I’d Be able to watch All the Irish games but no ability to watch the others.
While I’d rather poke my eyes out than watch most other game I’ve always felt we haven’t had enough visibility of the Scottish and Welsh derbies

Kings & Cheetahs will kick up an huge fuss and Kings will probably scream "Racist!!"
Seems unfair to boot them out without some sort of financial bailout from a broke SARU. So I just don't see it happening....Soup will still go on as normal for many years.

Don't know if this would sit well with the Saffa audience. It's a shitty drawn out comp to follow. To much stop start going on. Your team can play like two games and then not play for the next three weeks. I'll much rather we look inward, build the Currie up again and have the 2/3 best teams from there have a SH championship against the top Australasian teams.
I don't care about the Kings, a political bullshit side which should not be playing at top level. FFS, they don't even compete in the A-section of the Currie Cup. Feel a bit sorry for the Cheetahs. They do develope a lot of players but all the good ones are grabbed by the richer provinces. They struggle at the top level because they do not have the quality in depth for a long, top competition. Having said that, the Cheetahs are almost always a hard nut to crack at home.

Stormers will win this
Don't troll so early on a new site.
If this comes to pass, they need to trim the league further, if all 4 big SA teams are to play in it then one of the Italian (read Zebre) and one of the Welsh teams (read Dragons) need to leave as the league is already sufficiently diluted and is heading in the direction of Super rugby, in my view.
And on the 7th day, the Lord said "Let there be Finn Russell".
Nothing wrong with a bit of confidence.
I look forward to watching the Stormers lift the trophy at the Cape Town Soccer Stadium.
With our forwards, we have a chance.
Springboks, Stormers and WP supporter.
I shouldn't laugh really, but those guys just can't catch a break. From what I've seen, most Pro14 fans agree that the Kings are a shower of shit but at least the Cheetahs have been good value for money. It would be a travesty if they were removed and the other four shoved in.

It's a great representation of how quickly players leave the union.

I don't know why but when I look at a picture and something is facing left it seems as though it's moving back, when something faces right it's moving forward. So when looking at that pic my brain tells me that Cheetah is running away from something instead of towards something.
I don't know if I would go that far. They are most definitely a tough challenge to play away in Bloem, but they are very nearly as bad as the Kings on the road. I don't doubt that the length of travel plays its role in both directions. The fact that their squad gets pilfered of all of their top talent each year I'm sure doesn't help.assfly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 7:38 amI shouldn't laugh really, but those guys just can't catch a break. Pro16 I think would be workable. There isn't a huge difference between 2 conferences of 7 vs 2 conferences of 8. Obviously you would lose the extra domestic derby games (which is a big loss), but that's balanced by adding the 4 Soup teams which is no question a lot of quality.
Whatever they do though, they have to make sure not to go down the route of geographic conferences, keep the split as it is - with an even distribution of national teams in both confs.

Weird. I always see it the other way. Maybe because motor racing tends to be clockwise and viewing is typically from the outer side of the circuit.average joe wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 9:05 am I don't know why but when I look at a picture and something is facing left it seems as though it's moving back, when something faces right it's moving forward. It's funny how the mind works, maybe it's because as a youngster I use to love old arcade games. Most of them you would move from left to right. Or perhaps it's because my team is always running towards their own goal line.Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 9:21 amWeird. I always see it the other way. It will become a political issue in SA if the Kings get dropped in order to accommodate other SA sides. That's how we roll in SA.. Race, quotas, merit...in that order.PornDog wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 9:10 amI don't know if I would go that far. Wouldn't that depend upon which side of the pitch you were standing?!!!average joe wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 9:34 amIt's funny how the mind works, maybe it's because as a youngster I use to love old arcade games. My team is the Cheetahs. So maybe that is why that particular picture makes me think it's going in the wrong direction.Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 11:05 amWouldn't that depend upon which side of the pitch you were standing?!!!average joe wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 9:34 amIt's funny how the mind works, maybe it's because as a youngster I use to love old arcade games.
