The Springboks use this week to adopt to their 2023 WC home.
One of the changes was injury enforced as Lood suffered a shoulder injury against Ireland, while we opted to make a few tactical personnel changes for the challenge that we expect France to pose,” said Nienaber.
“We know what each of the players in this squad can do, and we thought these combinations fit this specific game.
“A guy like Cobus will also bring a different dimension to our attack, and it a bonus that he knows the conditions in France and has also played with some of their players.
“Manie, meanwhile, has showed his big match temperament in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship and he has been training well since joining the team, so if he gets a run, it will be a great occasion to make his Test debut. It is going to be a challenging game, but it doesn’t get better than playing against the second ranked team in the world on your debut.”
Manie Libbok is the only uncapped player included in the match-23 for the Test against France.

Nienaber expected a big onslaught from the French and said this would be a good test for the team with an eye on next year’s Rugby World Cup, which will be hosted in France.
“France have showed in the last year what a force they can be, and they come off a morale-boosting victory against Australia, so we know we are in for,” said Nienaber.
“Facing France, who are ranked second in the world, on their home patch at what we expect will be a full stadium is great preparation for next year, as the players will experience first-hand what they are in for.
“We will also be playing at this stadium during the World Cup, so this match will be good for us in many ways.”
Looking at the threat France could pose, Nienaber said: “They have a good pack of forwards who pride themselves on their set pieces and talented backs who can spark something from nothing, so they will test us all around.
“That said, we know what our players are capable of, and if we had capitalised on more of our opportunities against Ireland we could have been on the right end of the scoreboard. The reality is that we lost against the best team in the world at home in front of a capacity crowd by three points.
“We’ve spoken about what went wrong last week and we are working hard on rectifying those areas so that we can we play our potential and make the nation proud this weekend.”

The total Test caps for the Springbok starting line-up is 725.
There are 278 caps in the backline, with 447 caps amongst the forwards. On the bench there are a further 255
The average caps per player in the backline are 39, the forwards 55, while the players on the bench average 31.
He could not field his Sharks team mate, Hendricks box kicks.
deserves a little rest, plays week in week out
I like the look of our bench. If we can keep it close up to 50 mins we'll be in a good position. The biggest worry of the starting XV is the breakdown. With Marx, Kitshoff and no Duanne we'll struggle on the floor. PSdT, Kolisi and Wiese is backline players.
Looks weak.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 1:34 pm France – 15 Thomas Ramos, 14 Damian Penaud, 13 Gael Fickou, 12 Jonathan Danty, 11 Yoram Moefana, 10 Romain Ntamack, 9 Antoine Dupont (c), 8 Gregory Alldritt, 7 Charles Ollivon, 6 Anthony Jelonch, 5 Thibaud Flament, 4 Cameron Woki, 3 Uini Atonio, 2 Julien Marchand, 1 Cyril Baille.

How many poachers starting?
1 racist (Chalureau) on the bench so count him as a Saffer and one Atonio starting.

Ffs did you see the owner ?Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 3:02 pm
What is it with Montpellier players and prison?
A bit more than this...Marylandolorian wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 8:05 pmFfs did you see the owner ?
I think Chalureau got in trouble , you know the classic (alcohol/late night/drunk/fight) the year he was with the ST ,
Roos would be a like for like replacement for Wiese. But we need one loose forward to play to the ball. Kwagga is perfect with his speed and 7s skills. Fourie play the same. He should have started. Kwagga when it open up.
Not the win ratio stuff again. Everyone said HM was brilliant because he had a high win ratio, I kept pointing out it was meaningless because he had won nothing and hadn't beaten the best sides (1 win from 8 against the All Blacks). There was some moron (a Saffa living in Europe from memory) on PR trying to tell me HM was a better coach than Craven pre-2015 RWC, because of win ratio!FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:19 pm If they lose tonight, Nienaber's win ratio will be 55%. Nearly Straueli tier success rate.
I hope they win, but do you not think that the Boks have underperformed results wise since the RWC? Overall Eddie Jones and even Ian Foster have much better win ratios than Erasmus and Nienaber combined or individually. How else do you judge coaches? Sure Nienaber is bringing in new talent but our game is not evolving at all._Os_ wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 5:04 pmNot the win ratio stuff again. A lot of people are massively underestimating the Boks, they're totally capable beating any opponent. It wouldn't be at all surprising if they won with room to spare in this match.
Only a two match tour, Canada next Saturday but that fixture clashes with the Bok match. Squad looks like local players, they going through a bit of a rebuild.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:59 pm Ox next time you send link please. I played rugby in Namibia on my day and would enjoy watching them
Eddie Jones just lost to the Pumas at home in November. The Pumas have had 4 shots at us through 2021 and 2022 ("since the RWC" sounds bigger than it is, the season we're in is the only uninterrupted one since then), how many times did the Pumas beat the Boks over those 4 matches? Wales just got destroyed by the All Blacks at home in November, again what has been our record against the ABs and Wales.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 5:15 pm I hope they win, but do you not think that the Boks have underperformed results wise since the RWC?
