Disturbing incident.
The suggestion the entire Metropolitan Police Service is responsible, might be pushing it a bit

It would be shocking then if he uses a defence, "this is what I was taught in training".Longshanks wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 7:10 pm Disturbing incident.

It’s good of the article to make the explicit point that the bloke being arrested was black.
Yeah, they have a quite incredible agenda against the police at the moment. Photoshopping weapons out of BLM protestors hands was a particularly sinister moment.

I'm sure he's a good upstanding citizen of the UKThe force confirmed it had charged a 45-year-old man with possession of a knife in a public place.
There was a very carefully cropped photo of a "protestor" swinging a plank of wood at the police officer.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 9:23 amWhat?
The BBC did that? That is appalling.
I have no problem the police kneeling on someone’s neck to subdue them, obviously not for an extended period however if you want to be treated gently stop fucking resisting.

Funny things you see in society these days, exactly what happens when you give people who are lowly paid and miserable as sin any power.
We live in a nation of wall to wall resent'tards, meanspirited finger jabbers, who wouldn't be out of place on the towers of Belsin... contained only by the fact you used to be able to scream fuck off at them.
Now you can't, now they can get away with it. You Walk into a supermarket and the workers (sorry key workers) love nothing more than flexing their authority.
Can you step back please sir!!!
But you was just hugging your colleague, right there just now. You sure she's alright? Oh , and this stuff is in the air, hanging like a death cloud for hours, indoors, and I am the only one of us wearing a mask, (OK two masks). Right, I'll step back.. feel better?

Perhaps you're just triggered. I reckon the kid at the supermarket is just as pissed off having to tell people what they should already know. They'd probably rather be sonewhere else.Line6 HXFX wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 11:12 am Funny things you see in society these days, exactly what happens when you give people who are lowly paid and miserable as sin any power.

The issue there being if someone is asphyxiating me, I'm going to resist too. [/notQuagmire]

Link.
The original image is on the right; the cropped image used by the BBC in its report in the BLM protests is on the left.

Any link for the photoshopping of weapons out of protesters hands by the BBC?
Indeed, they may well have used a different programme to crop out the weapon. I do all my crops in Lightroom rather than Photoshop.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 2:20 pm Any link for the photoshopping of weapons out of protesters hands by the BBC?
Chris Jack, 67 test All Black - "I was voted most useless and laziest cunt in the English Premiership two years on the trot"
I'm not going to waste any time looking for it but there was another image where the weapon was actually photoshopped out. It was quite heavily reported at the time and the BBC apologised.Lobby wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 1:52 pmhttps://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters ... r-protest/

For something heavily reported, it's pretty hard to find

I didn't know they did that. What bollocks. It was bad enough the way they described many BLMs protests as peaceful when they were anything but. No wonder the BBC has ever falling credibility problems with the public.

"The broadcaster originally showed the image of police behaving aggressively towards people during the protests this weekend."
How TF do either of those pics show the police behaving aggressively?!!
Poor by the beeb regardless.

Was thinking the same. There is a difference between cropping and 'shopping. No debate about the intent if the latter occurred.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 2:20 pm Any link for the photoshopping of weapons out of protesters hands by the BBC?
IMO the picture has more impact with the stick included . Cropping or shopping the intent is clear. It's a bit worrying because the BBC tends to be my main news resource. I expect some impartiality at least.Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 9:46 amWas thinking the same. There is a difference between cropping and 'shopping. I just watched the video on this and it did not live up to the hype. The ridiculous sensationalism of stuff like this makes you realise that politicians and the media have created a climate which makes it very difficult for police officers to do their jobs.
On the one hand they say (as David Lammy did last Friday) that the govt needs to do more to address knife crime. Then, when cops apprehend a guy with a knife and it doesnt go quite according to plan opportunists like Sadiq Khan and Corbyn seize the chance to make political capital out of it and to throw the officer under the bus. The four star general at the Met put the boot in also.
Based on this, the interventions of the general public at the time of the incident and the subsequent protests afterward the police are quite obviously operating with very little visible, moral or tangible support. As a police officer in the era of the smart phone you are one bad interaction with a black person away from having your career and reputation ruined.
